oh good, just turned it on and it's already a losing effort

does anyone else (who has an HDTV) think that ESPN's HD signal is pretty crappy?

"I think until we get Soriano back in the lineup, we’ll keep him right in the one-hole,” Piniella said. "He's got patience, got good on-base percentage, got a good arm. I don’t really want to play around with the leadoff spot too much. Right now we’ve got him there, and hopefully we can just keep him there.

Sorry to nitpick, but what the hell does a good arm have to do with hitting leadoff? Lou's getting old.

I was suprised nobody mentioned this little fact in the game thread when Len casually mentioned it a few minutes ago. That's a huge change, although Fukudome better have a little success there early or Lou probably will change his mind. He doesn't need to be great, but he can't be terrible there.

And Kosuke putting the 1st pitch in play isn't surprising in the slightest. He leads the Cubs in that catgory.

Today, I heard they were supposed to have the brand new HD cameras that came out a few days ago.

I think they pump crowd noise into the Trop. There's no way enough people are in attendance for cheering/booing to be audible.

i'm sure the cameras are great, but the signal is compressed as hell. ABC is the same way (no surprise, same parent company). It's really less than great HD signal.

For those of us that didn't see the game, how did the run score? Iwamura was at first and he scored on an error? Hm?

Line drive to DeRosa in LF, it hit off his glove and went to the wall.

I don't get why it's an earned run, then. That's what threw me off.

And a giant middle finger to whatever idiot is calling balls and strikes tonight. A pitch at the chest and it gets called a ball. Idiots.
