Texas is getting reamed by aTm. It's a good thing their non-con was so strong. Even then though, they have to play OU again and go to kansas, meaning they may have to avoid tripping up against Tech, @OSU, and Baylor to stay over .500 in the conference.

Rick Barnes is a joke. He's truly an awful in game coach.

Texas could be in a lot of danger if they lose this one then the one vs OU on Saturday.

He's actually not bad. His problem is that DJ Augustine left and they have no one to replace him at PG.

I can't think of another coach whose basketball mind is as mismatched with the talent that plays for him. He's pretty Lavinesque, IMO.

Scott Drew at Baylor. I'd mention Travis Ford at Oklahoma State too, but he didn't recruit anyone that gets a lot of minutes right now.

pat kennedy, at least, back in the day.

lol, he was baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. He had some loaded teams at both DePaul and FSU and bombed with all of them. The guy at LSU who coached when Shaq was there--can't think of his name--was a terrible coach, too.

Yes, though I might have just seen him in his waning years. I think he did go to a Final Four or two, so comparing him to Kennedy is pretty unfair.

Told you they weren't a lock.

but i guess that assumes basketball exists outside of the texas-oklahoma area.

I would have mentioned Frank Martin at Kansas State if this was last season.

i actually remember him as a pretty decent coach. he benefited from lsu's "all aboard" admissions policy.

I can't wait for Mizzou to come to AFH. I need revenge.

See, the problem with us being really good lately is that suddenly I've had this thought in my mind that we might be able to put out a win there, which we all know is probably close to impossible.

It's probably not that implausible. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but I thought our last two games at AFH have been closer than the ones at Paige Arena. I think one came down to the wire.

Still, I'm expecting the place to be a frenzy. And hopefully Marcus morris won't bump a ref this time and have to sit out the last 10 minutes of the game.

I think it was 2 years ago Matt Lawrence missed a 3 at the buzzer that would've tied it, although last year you guys won by nearly 20. It's definitely a game I don't have any expectations of winning though, the only way it happens if some combination of great Mizzou shooting and Aldrich or Collins missing a bunch of time with foul trouble goes down.

(it's no longer Paige)

Why not?

Here's an explanation.

What?

The move comes months after billionaires Bill and Nancy Laurie angered Mizzou fans, students and alumni by announcing their plan to name the arena after their daughter, who did not attend Missouri. The couple were given the naming rights after donating $25 million toward the building campaign.

I see what you're saying.

they didnt name it; they just took the twenty-five mill and said, "do what you will," then got outraged when the Lauries did what they did.

Until they get an arena not paid for with such blood money, the basketball team should stop showing up to all games, rather than just the 1 against Illinois every year.

did they ever decide if they were building a new assembly hall or renovating the current one? (serious question)

Economy has delayed the decision further. It looked like the plan was going to be a renovation during either the 10-11 or 11-12 season with the team playing elsewhere for their home games(Peoria, Chicago, Bloomington maybe? can't remember all the possibilities) This was a cause of concern with some fans cause 2010 is when the big boys come in (Richmond, Head, Leonard) and they didn't want them playing away from home for a full season ruining their hopes.

I'd imagine when by the time things get turned around our AD will leave it to the next guy to undertake.(Guenther's contract is up in 2010, and he's getting up there.) Out my ass guess, new stadium built for '14-'15

Holy crap, Blair and Young are beasts.

And Lavinesque is a horrible adjective. Blech.

Can I get a rundown of the Lavin tenure at UCLA? I know everyone pretty much hates him there because he wasn't God or John Wooden, but why, exactly? I understand UCLA is a top notch program, but what did he do (or not do) that makes him so reviled in Westwood?
