I will laugh when Purdue doesn't make the tournament. What a pathetic disgrace.

We were playing with out Hummel and Kramer, but regardless we still should have won that game and yes it would be horribly pathetic if we don't make it

They're 2-4 against competitive teams. I'm guessing on a 9-9 Big Ten record after watching these first two conference games. 10-8 maybe, 11-7 would thrill me.

They've been playing with two starters hurt...and we lost two games to two teams that in the top 10 teams in the country. There's no way we finish 9-9 in the Big Ten.....We lost the first two, but come on were not that bad and at full health will lose probably 5-7 (in the big ten) games I think

maybe the experts are just idiots

Two minutes here should convince you of this. Every expert in every field is far dumber than the collective intelligence represented at NSBB.

Especially in math. All those other experts are just Salieri.

Also the Big Bang Theory or something.

Once LewJack finds his groove and starts averaging 30 points per game, you guys should be fine.

They could easily lose at Wisconsin, at Michigan State, at Minnesota, at Michigan, and at Illinois. There are other games they could easily lose as well, including home versus Michigan State and at Ohio State. Obviously things can change but if Kramer and Hummel are hurt now they might be hurt for a decent stretch. I'm just saying I would not be shocked if they ended up 9-9 and they've done nothing to instill confidence in me to this point.

I wouldn't chalk up at Northwestern as a win either. There are not going to be many gimmes in the Big 10 this year. Games against Indiana and Iowa at home should be the only games any team feels really confident in. Penn St. and Northwestern are pretty decent teams.

I'm starting to think there's a really good chance of 6 Big Ten teams in the tourney. And other than MSU, I'm not confident enough to guarantee any others of those spots.

I agree there are just very few gimmies on the schedule. I spent 20 minutes yesterday looking through Michigan's schedule trying to figure out where 10 wins are going to come from.

At least the home court advantage in the Big Ten isn't as bad as it was maybe 2-3 years ago. Very solid conference top to bottom. It makes for fun basketball, but it sucks for me because I just want to see Michigan in the tourney and I don't think it's going to happen.

I'll readily admit they haven't exactly looked like a great team for a few weeks, but calling them a "pathetic disgrace" is ridiculous. They're missing two starters due to injury: the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All Big Ten selection. Any team is going to struggle when two key players miss time due to injury. If those two have to miss a significant amount of time (especially Hummel), it's going to be a tough conference season. That doesn't make them anything close to a "pathetic disgrace" though.

Unless I'm mistaken, yesterday was the first game they've missed. They're not a terrible basketball team - and pathetic disgrace was just the frustration talking. That being said they should not be ranked and are/were very over-hyped. If they do end up 9-9 and are on the outside looking in come tournament time I think pathetic disgrace fits. How often does a pre-season team with that much hype completely miss the tournament?

MSU has proven to be head and shoulders above everyone else, but there's a lot of questions still I wouldn't rule anyone I agree

I wouldn't rule out the possibility of 7 or more Big Ten teams in the tourney if they keep beating each other up, and IU gets beat up. There could be 8 teams in the league with .500 or better records, and if the conference champ ends up with 5 losses (as has happened before), nobody other than IU is really out of contention for a tourney spot yet (PSU and Iowa were closest going into conference, but PSU is now 2-1 already in conference...Iowa is 1-1 with a close game at OSU). Would not surprise me in the least to see MSU, Purdue, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, PSU or Northwestern in the tourney.

I Think Northwestern will fall off even more, but besides that that looks about right

I know the two wins are against Northwestern and a depleted Purdue team, but do people still think Penn State will only go 5-13 in conference? If so, you haven't watched them at all.

Northwestern lost a close game at Stanford, a close game at Butler, a close game at PSU, and a home game to an MSU team that suddenly looks really dangerous. I wouldn't consider any of them bad losses, and they have a good win against FSU.

Of course, they do need to start winning games in conference.

Not from how they've looked in the early conference season, but they had the most susceptible non-conference resume after IU (home loss to Temple, loss to Rhode Island, best win vs. a GT team that looks worse each week).

I'm not saying they haven't played well, but I just don't see them making the tourney...They'll be more competitive this year for sure though

Who said Penn St. was going 5-13?

Sagarin

Why would u think they'd go 5-13...They weren't even that bad last year and there best player was injured for almost the entire season last year

Seriously, screw you, Texas.

 What's that ab--oh, they played UCLA.

Yeah, it's especially annoying since the Pac-10 is down and UCLA has already lost to 2 of their 3 quality OOC opponents. Makes that Notre Dame game so much more important.

At least Arkansas looks like it should be a top 25 team.

Arkansas looks really good...I'm thinking that it might not be that the Big12 was overrated and more that Arkansas is underrated

Big 10 folks, how badly will MSU fist KU in East Lansing?

Should be a decent game Kansas at least has been competitive this year, but MSU is awesome at home

Not as badly as you might think, should be a close, competitive game.

Although, I think Kansas is the most underrated team in the Big 12 right now.

his rankings still have PSU at #10 out of the 11 teams in conference, even after the Purdue win. Only Indiana ranks lower
