Wow, #4?

Oh, and  at Arizona getting 18 votes. They'll be fighting Stanford and OSU for 10th place.

Most of these rankings make absolutely no sense to me

And mostly due to that returning talent...eight ranked teams in the preseason poll. Two more receiving votes. This league is going to be an absolute bear. And I can't wait.

One of those beasts actually make the elite 8 this year?

Why is it ok to use sample size and crapshoot in relation to MLB playoffs but not the NCAA tournament?

No worries though, you guys need someone to throw things at now that Eric Gordon isn't in college anymore.

I realize it is sample sizes, just think it is odd that you guys haven't done better as a conference in the tourny lately as you have been by far the best conference. I guess that is cause UConn and the Cuse, two very good programs have been down a bit for them lately.

Anything can happen in the Tourney thats the thing....Plus what they haven't won in 3 years? The conference is still very good as a whole

Shouldn't sample size work both ways when the Big East has 16 freakin teams? I'm not exactly impressed by a large amount of ranked teams when you dwarf every other conference in size.

What's impressive though is how good the depth is. Besides South Florida and Rutgers there isn't a gimmie in that conference.

KU

Florida

Florida

UNC

so four. But, your point remains.

That's all I'm saying...Was Kansas necessarily the most talented team in the nation....They were one of the best, but maybe not the best...The Tournament does crazy things.

I would say KU was right there. Florida the second year was. UNC was everyones pick to win it the year they won as well.

I don't see why Cincinnatti, Seton Hall, Providence, DePaul, St. John's, USF, or Rutgers contributes much more depth than the bottom half in other conferences. Even Cuse has been fairly mediocre lately.

The Big East's scheduling is so unbalanced that you're going to have several teams with great records and several teams with truly putrid records. In other leagues you get more teams clustered around the .500 mark because everyone plays almost everyone else twice.

Yeah, but last Florida was crazy that happened. A team wining twice in a row hadn't happen in a very long time. But agree that KU was there and UNC is always picked to win

This. And even those two have their moments (USF took UConn to OT last year, Rutgers has a history of giving better teams trouble at the RAC).

With a road game at Loyola Marymount and Maui almost right off the bat, I should find out quickly if ND is really #9 good.

And I have no idea what's up with the Big East in the tourney, but I've always thought measuring an entire conference on it was unwise. Just to use an example I'm familiar with, there were a lot of teams in the 4-seed area that I thought ND could've taken out in the 2nd round if they'd been podded with them as a 5, but I knew Washington State wasn't one of them. Having the Cougars beating my team was one of the easiest picks in my bracket last year. It comes down to matchups a lot.

Cuse has looked medicore because of the conference. Last year they had four MCDAAs, that is a lot of talent for a team that struggles to qualify for the conference tournament. As much as it pains me to say it, that league is stacked.

7 of the Big East's teams were between 7-11 and 11-7 in the league last year. I'm not quite sure what you're looking for in the cluster department.

Show me a more talented team. KU had 5 guys go in the draft. The only teams that could make a claim to equal talent were UCLA and Memphis, and that's only because their top-level talent was slightly better than KU's. KU had them on depth, though.

Still, your point remains. It is a crapshoot. Gotta have talent. Also have to have luck. KU was a wayward three away from not even making the FF.

Ah yes the genious Davidson coach who didn't have Curry shoot said three. Your school will probably never be in position to go to a final four again and you don't have your best player ever shoot the biggest shot in your programs history. Nice work skipper.

Oh and snood don't sell yourself short. You also have Collins and Alrdich, who will be pros on that team. At least I assume that Collins will get a shot.
