So the AL update came out today in all-star voting. The Red Sox have the top vote getter at 1b, 2b, C, DH, and OF. Lowell is second at 3b, and Lugo is in 4th but only 70k or so from second place. On top of that the starters at 3b, and SS are both Yankees leaving just two outfield slots going to non Red Sox/Yankee players in the AL. The Yankees might be able to get the sweep as three of their outfielders are in the top 8.

The starting pitcher is likely to be Cliff Lee but if he has a bad start or two Daisuke could be next in line.

Never underestimate the power of the eastern seaboard promotional network.

Yeah but looking at it there aren't a lot of places that are wrong. Manny isn't doing that great and definately shouldn't be leading over Hamilton but there aren't three dominanting OF's in the AL so he's probably still a starter with Maggs. Varitek shouldn't be starting over Mauer but it's close. The worst one is probably Pedroia (.319 OBP, the dude doesn't walk) over Kinsler, or Ortiz over Matsui (batting .330). But none of them are clear definate snubs other than Kinsler (Ortiz does have more Hr's and rbis).

That should be good news as far as winning/losing the game for the NL, even if it is for only an inning or two. Any time you get lesser players there, I wouldn't complain.

If the game counts, then an online (and easily rigged) popularity contest shouldn't decide the starting lineups. Selig is a fool.

OK -- so as a compromise let the fan's vote get guys on the team, but starters and the rest of the roster should go to the manager and players' vote. I trust them over the fans to make sure the most deserving players start / make the team.

most definitely agree

I agree with most of you. I mean, I for example, as a fan of an NL team, do kind of vote to help the NL win. I vote for the best players in NL voting.. But in the AL, I usually vote for the worst players, to screw their team up.

This game shouldn't actually count for something.

Not sure if it's been posting here yet, but they announced during the Yankees game today that Josh Hamilton has moved into 2nd in OF voting for the AL. Finally, someone is getting it right.

yeah that was announced due to the update of votes on MLB.com. He still trails Manny though.
