Chances are, with Pie up here playing instead of Edmonds, they wouldn't be any better off this year anyway.

Long term, on the other hand, they're obviously probably worse off. I'm not all that high on Pie but it would've been nice to see him get an extended look and a chance to struggle.

Only a true Cubs fan would word a sentence like this. It warms my heart.

Edmonds is done.

On top of that, Pie may lose another 1/2 season of "seasoning". However, the Cubs may just be good enough to overcome the ridiculous decisions they some times make.

Those stupid Cubs. They're so dumb, putting together the best team in baseball and winning all the time. Hendry and Lou should be fired.

Demoting Pie and signing and playing Edmonds has nothing to do with the Cubs winning. But, if it makes you happy...

Edmonds sure had a big role in that comeback against the Rockies ...

If you think Edmonds is done, then fine. However, it's foolish to think he didn't have a part in a few Cubs wins.

No kidding. That game, yesterday's game, the game against Houston where he made that great catch. Edmonds has certainly contributed.

We need another starter..First thing all my Sox fans said was that also..Lineup is solid but we need a shutdown guy because Lilly blows this year and we seriously cant sepend on Marquis and Gallagher..Trade for Harden or Sabathia or someone..

In the Trib, Edmonds said that Gerald Perry was the one that suggested the stance change. Hence my confusion.

Also, i heard Chet Coppock mention Buster Olney claming the Cubs were becoming a "great" team. Anyone no where that cam from tv, blog, etc.?

I heard him say it on Sportscenter on Friday afternoon.

BTW, to say that Edmonds hasn't contributed to Cubs wins is flat out false.

I don't want him here very much either, but that statement is just untrue.

If Edmonds of all people, starts hitting well for the CUBS. That's it, I'll go out of my shell and just say it, the cubs are winning the world series this year.

that's not what he said

I don't want to get into semantics, so I will just assume that your reading is the correct one.

If he keeps hitting, I might have to stop calling him "Old Man River."

Well..... Ol' Man River's had himself quite a week there, no?

Anyone who thinks Jimmy is done is lying to themselves.

ok, except that up until 3 games ago it sure looked like he was done.

That's true, but he's obviously made adjustments. Someone also mentioned before that he had no spring training and was probably rusty. I think that's a reasonable point.

I'd be happy with half of that OPS for the rest of the season.
