The "social" index list 5 or 6 pages. I click on page 1 and it takes me to the last page.

At the bottom is says "page 1 of 1"

Weird.

Tell me wonderful things about these clubs. I'm considering begging the wifey fore these. . . or at least using my bonus for the month to buy them.

Golfnow.com offers some really great discount tee times on courses all over the place. If you haven't checked it out, do yourself a favor.

I'm playing one of the nicer golf courses in San Diego County on Tuesday for $27 (greens fee and cart) through golfnow.com. That's a 51% savings.

I ordered the Excel Strongs (X-20 clones). I picked up a 64 degree wedge, too. $170 for all that --- nice. I looked a few club review sites and read nothing but great things about these clubs. The 30 day money back guarantee is nice as well.

What's funny is that they recommend a standard shaft length for me --- I'm 6'4". I figured I'd need a longer shaft. I went with their recommendation --- standard shaft, stiff flex. I also went with the stock grips --- I can change them if I don't like them.

I've been playing for 12 years or so and this is the first set of new irons I've ever had.

They have different clubs based on different manufacturers designs, so pick your fave. I've got the commands (based on TaylorMade R7's). I have hybrid 3-5. Stiff shafts. Graphite on the hybrids. Steel on the irons 6,7,8,9,PW,SW. The hybrids have moveable weights so you can draw weight them if you need to. The irons also seem to have weight in the club head and that makes it easier for me, personally, to swing down through the ball rather than top them off.

It's not a magic fix for your golf game, but I'm a more confident ball striker. I still slice some, and I still will hit off the toe sometimes when I setup too far away or something. But the only times that I top off now are when I: 1) Bring my head up cuz I'm trying to crush the ball into the next county or 2) I'm on a funky side-hill or downhill lie.

Took about 5 business days from order to arrival, and I really don't have a complaint, except that I ordered stiff shafts, and I probably should've ordered regular.

So, at the resort I work at we just opened our golf course. Check out http://www.journeyatpechanga.com and tell me what you think.

It is a beautiful course and in pretty good shape for being brand new. The rating is just under Torrey Pines so it will be a tough course but really fun because it is so unique. I like to call it "adventure golf" because the holes are so different from each other.

Where can I get a dozen cub golf balls?

I'd like some to putt with --- proV's would be nice but I can't find any with a cub logo.

I've found some DT SLO Titleists and some Callaway Warbirds, but neither are what I'd like to putt with.

So I played my first round of golf today. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Drank a lot of beer. Shotgunned a couple of beers. Made a few good putt shots. My long game needs a lot of work, I suck at hitting a driver. I like it, it's a lot of fun.

I just need some extra work with the driver and on the putting green. My iron game has really come along quickly. I'm consistently hitting shots accurately with nice trajectory from 5-iron through my wedges.

Just read some tips on golf digest that hopefully will help keep me from opening up with my driver and hitting everything right. Excited to try them out on the range tomorrow.

hawk, every time I play I tell myself, 'if I could hit my driver straight, I'd be in the 70s."

Then I realize that no one hits their driver straight every time.

I just wish I was consistent --- consistent push, pull, or whatever. I'll say this much about my game --- I'm great at recoveries.

Yesterday, on our par 5 510 yard dog leg left, I banana sliced one to the right. I was left with a good 300 yards from the hole. I took out the hybrid, knocked the holy hell out of it, and sat 50 yards from the hole. I ended up tapping in for a par.

Go to: http://www.golfdigest.com/instruction/ and check out Swing Rx stuff along with the other tips they have. A lot of it is simple but I think it may help. One suggested to have the front of your left hand facing the target rather than how I usually position my grip where the logo on my glove is facing right of the target.

Another was from Annika Sorenstam where you put you keep your left hand in front of you and bring your right hand back like you would with your swing. When you bring your right hand down, it should meet your left right in front of your body. If your hands meet or clap together left of your center line (too far forward), you're opening up your shoulders too much at impact. I've just been doing that a little bit today, trying to force it and it feels better. The key will be maintaining it while actually striking a ball. She also suggests a wider stance to avoid a slice with your driver.

I hear you bhogg. I don't expect to knock them straight every time, I just need to eliminate my slice and get a little consistency. I have no slice with any of my irons, but a nasty one with my driver. I strike the ball solid every time, if I could just at least get it to a straight push, I would be able to adjust for it a little.

The best slice advice (that has helped me immensely) is to make sure you roll your hands over.

Swing your driver like a baseball bat. You naturally roll your hands over. Swing again and again gradually lowering the club. Make sure you have the same hands rolling over feeling on each one. If you still are having trouble, deliberately try to roll your hands over so much that you're hooking the ball left. It's easier to correct a closed face than an open one.

Looks awesome. But, I won't be golfing there at those prices. Heck, I can go to Torrey Pines for $45. If you can get us a good deal, I'll golf with ya.

And if you get me a flight, I will too.

I was slicing today. I finally just focused on hitting the inside of the ball and BAM --- back to back to back 300+ yard drives. . . straight as an arrow.

I'm giving luck much of the credit, however.

Well the tips I read worked fairly well off the range after some adjustment. My front shoulder was coming too far open off the drives and when I focus on doing the "hand clap" a time or two before I swing, I'm staying closed and hitting it pretty straight.

Need to pick up some new balls and am thinking about the Top Flite D2's. I know a lot of people refuse to play "Rock Flite" but these seem way different. Played one of my buddy's D2 Feel's on a couple holes and they're far from the old Top Flite's. Very soft and on my approach shots they would either check nicely and even got some backspin a couple of times which is rare for me. They're only $15 for 15 so it's a very good ball for the price.

Anyone played these? Not sure if I want to get the "Feel" or "Distance".

Since it is new, I am sure we can work something out! :)

Sometimes my bosses listen to me and other times they don't. Being the revenue/yield manager sometimes works but when they want to price something at some level they won't care about logic.

When you come you should see some of the crazy proshop prices. Would you pay $548 for a Hyper X driver?

My two biggest complaints about resort golf:

1. The high price becomes a badge of honor. I never understood why our members at the club I worked at would whine about our $11 cart fee but would then brag about going away and paying $125 to play Clustered Ponds or whatever

2. The ridiculous holes they put in there because they want to be unique/ becuase they can. A 225 yard par 3 by the water may be picturesque but it's pretty much impossible to hit and then hold that island green. Stop punishing us.

The last course that I worked at was a shorter, wide open bombs away type course that had sneaky defense if you weren't careful but it was fun to play.

This exact method led me to play a big draw. It works.

An old adage is 'facing your problem'- if you slice, you can line your stance up right of your target, but still look to the target. Most people will then naturally take the club back inside and pull it towards the flag, negating the slice. This is something I'll do in the middle of a round if the wheels are falling off (which they do often now that I don't play nearly as much).

Back in the day, I had a wicked slice that liked to find its way to the next fairway over. Whenever I would compensate for the slice, I'd hit it perfectly straight, which would find it's way to the next fairway over. Murphy's Law.

Not a chance. Not sure who would, either.

I think we are coming to Temecula in 2 weeks to play a round. We haven't decided yet between Temeku, Red Hawk or Steele Canyon, but I'll be pushing for Red Hawk.

If the weather holds up, that is. It's been perfect golf weather the last few weeks. Another 10 degrees, and it might be time to take a summer break from the inland courses.

My Pinemeadow Excels have not come in yet --- they are due on Tuesday.

I was at Academy Sports today and they were selling the Excel Strongs w/ Hybrid (3-5) for $149. I picked up a 7 iron and compared it to the Callaway X-20s. . . just there in the store, I couldn't see a $450 difference in the two clubs.

I think I'll be pleased with the Pinemeadow clubs.

I think you will too. The Mid Launch Plus clubs have been fantastic for me. My iron game right now is fantastic. I used to be a long drive good putter type without trying to mess up in between, now my iron game is my biggest strength. I'm just hoping they are durable, my beginner clubs after 5+ years are still in great shape, I hope these can do that as well. I'm happy that Banedon put that site in this thread before he was ratted out to the man.

my old cobras must know something is up. I shot a +1 on 9 holes on Friday. It had nothing to do with the irons, and everything to do with the hybrid 2 and my gap wedge.
