As others have said, at this point, if you still hate Edmonds, then something is wrong with you. He's not a Cardinal anymore, and he's helping the Cubs.

I am not ashamed at the least to say I like Jim Edmonds.

I'm afraid I have to agree.

I don't understand people's inability to separate the team from the individuals. I love the Cubs. So I have to love every player? Do I have to love the manager? Bench coach? [gasp] GM?

If you can't separate supporting a team from unconditional love of every player and any other individual associated with the team, then something is wrong with you.

I'm liking his bat and adequate defense. I still don't like his penchant to make routine plays look more than they are by taking a step or two in the wrong direction first, which he still does occasionally. He doesn't seem to do it as often as he did when he was a Card, but it might just seem that way because I'm not watching him as critically as before since he's not a card anymore.

I agree with this, but trust me there's no such thing as unconditional love when it comes to ballplayers. A guy goes into a 2-month slump, I don't care who he is -- that "love" is suddenly no where to be found.

The problem I have with really "liking" Edmonds is that I know damn well he could leave in November and say the same sorts of things about us that he said about the Cards when he left them. He doesn't really pull his punches.

I definitely root for his play on the field though. But I consider that to be a separate thing.

I don't care what he says when he leaves, if he performs.

i was the biggest edmonds hater in the world when he was with the cardinals.....also didn't care for him when the cubs picked him up.

but all that has passed and i'm about 10 HR's shy of ordering an edmonds player tee....yea, that's right.

I still hate Edmonds, but with increased expectations now, predict how his final numbers will look like. Off hand I think he is something like .238/.318/.419 for the year

My guess

.265/.335/.445

I'm not going to be the one to jinx him by changing my opinion. I hate the bastard.

When he was a Cardinal and I hated him, he kicked our ass.

Now that he's a Cub and I've hated him, he's kicking our opponents ass.

Obviously the common thread is that Jim is powered solely by the hatred of Cubs fans. That's why he sucked in San Diego...no Cubbie hatred.

So hate my friends. Hate that SOB to a 1.000 OPS.
