I'm following online from work and can't watch today's game. Has the Lilly we all knew and loved from last year finally returned to the team and displaced that evil imposter we saw the first few weeks?

He sure looked pretty good today. The D-Bags hitters just couldn't handle the way he changed speed on his pitches. Def his best performance of the season.

He picked a good game to bust out. I really don't want to lose this series to the DBacks.

Someone said he hit 89 on the gun. I guess thats good. Velocity is not everything but when you don't have control its a big problem.

I don't think he'll be as good as last year ( i never thought he would), but I'd say you'd see more of this than what you saw his first few starts.

Gameday had him breaking 90 several times.

WGN even clocked 94 for one pitch but I doubt that's accurate. Len said the scoreboard had 91. If he can hit 91-92, he'll be more than fine.

Just got back from the game. Had seats behind home plate. Lilly looked really good today. Command was definitely there, and he had a lot of guys off balance. Wood looked filthy from where I was too.

That's four solid starts in a row for Lilly after a pretty bad start. I'm hoping it was just early season mechanics problems, cause lately he's looked really solid.

Two observations from this post:

You live pretty close to Wrigley Field.

You didn't drink nearly enough.

Right on both accounts. I came straight from work, so I only had a few beers. (My buddy is a die hard DBacks fan, so I couldn't drink too much in case the natives got restless and wanted to take it out on him)

Yeah, I have to say I'm much more concerned about Hill than I am about anyone else. Getting him back into the rotation is very key. I like Jon Lieber, just not in the rotation. And I simply don't like Jason Marquis in any way.

Lilly coming back strong certainly helps take the pressure off of the rotation after losing Hill. But we're still trotting out Marquis out there every five days and I am yet to be convinced that Demp is going to perform at his current level through the season.

If Marshall and/or Gallagher can get into the rotation and Hill can come back, I'd be thrilled. Use Demp/Marquis for tradebait at the deadline.

Wood should begin every game with a pitch over the catchers head around 97+ just to screw with the hitter.
