I really should make the trek up to Fresno one of these years as this is the closest a Cubs minor league team will get to me.

Oh come on, the Dodgers play the Pirates at least three times a year.

Probable Starters:

Iowa: RHP Justin Berg (at Tenn: 0-3, 3.49 ERA, 28.1 IP, 10 K/11 BB, .264 BAA)

Tennessee: RHP Jeff Samardzija (2-2, 3.12 ERA, 26 IP, 14 K/12 BB, .221 BAA)

Daytona: RHP Esmailin Caridad (2-1, 5.23 ERA, 20.2 IP, 11 K/5 BB, .250 BAA)

Peoria (game one): RHP Billy Muldowney (2007 at Peoria & Mesa: 2-4, 4.97 ERA, 25.1 IP, 26 K/6 BB, .294 BAA)

Peoria (game two): RHP Ryan Acosta (0-1, 2.75 ERA, 19.2 IP, 13 K/4 BB, .314 BAA)

Berg is making his AAA debut. Muldowney is making his 2008 debut after having Tommy John surgery last season.

Billy Petrick is expected to make his way to Daytona sometime this week as part of his rehab.

Ugh, rough first inning for Samardzija (4 ER, 0 in the next 3 innings). His control has worsened the last few starts - 4 BB today after 6 BB last time out.

Ryan Harvey hit a home run.

Geez, Samardzija doesn't give up any more runs after the first but manages to rack up 6 BB in 5. Second straight start with 6 walks.

Scott Eyre struck out two and gave up one hit in a scoreless inning of rehab work.

AZ Phil at Fitch

Pawelek didn't walk or hit anyone. 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 K.

Hernandez gave up 2 in 2. Searle threw 1.2 scoreless and got 2 K.

Huseby threw another live BP session.

I think Muldowney's ok, he threw 4 hitless and scoreless and struck out three. Rosa's done well in both games of the doubleheader (3/5, 2 BB, triple, HR).

Berg, on the other hand, has given up 3 through 3 including 2 HRs. Still got that unreal groundball rate going (7 to 1).

I see Marcos Mateo has made his way to Daytona.

The scouts on the Cubs seem to love him, sabermetric projections say he's a non-prospect with no shot at contributing in the bigs.

Oh gee, let me figure out who I'll trust on this issue.

He's an invisible rabbit that Raisin sees sometimes.
