The Reds have called up Jerry Hairston from AAA and designated Juan Castro for assignment.

“Hairston’s been playing really well, hitting .420. We decided to bring him up here, and he gives us a little more versatility from the standpoint that he can play the infield and the outfield, and he can run. He’s swinging a hot bat right now, so there he is," Krivsky said. "Good day for Jerry, and tough day when you have to tell Juan Castro goodbye for now.”

But Jerry Hairston Jr hasn't been a good baseball player since 2004 which is probably when he got off the juice.

And he is still (less bad) than Juan Castro.

 

With the way he's been hitting in AAA, plus he has an out close in his contract that he can leave if he wound't have been called up by May, he forced the Reds hands.

 

It's a minor move I agree with.
