How much complaining has there been of his play this year? I mean you are basing things off of a 2 week sample size of games, which is a bit ridiculous considering the wealth of information we can draw about his past play.

EDIT: BTW I'm not against riding him out there every day, until he either hits a dry patch or not, but I still don't think he should lead off or bat 2nd. Fukudome should be in the mix there.

there's been a substantial amount of complaining, a polite term, about his inclusion in the lineup and his good play has not quelled that one bit.

You obviously haven't read too many game threads this year. My favorite: the "BE HURT THERIOT" comment(s).

To be fair, we aren't complaining about his play to date this season. We are complaining about the likely level of play the rest of the season.

The thing about Theriot is, last year was his first year, what if his struggles were a fluke? What if he has adjusted and can get on base consistantly? As long as he is playing well this year you can't count him out.

Marquis has seriously looked really good. His pitches look like ace stuff right now.

He's had lots of movement and his sinker looks beautiful.

I mean whatever people want to give Cedeno a bit of a chance too

The hysterical hate for Cedeno was a lot louder than this

you just hit the nail on the head in regards to why jason is so very frustrating

he has all the tools...just doesn't seem to ever put it together consistantly

His career minor-league numbers point to him being pretty much exactly what he was last year.

If he ever put it together consistantly he would be a very, very good pitcher. Same with Dempster, if he throws strikes he would be tought to hit. If we find a way to get Marquis to pitch like this every day and Dempster continues pitching well this team could be a 100 plus win team. It's too bad it probably won't happen.

Wow-complaining about play that hasn't even happened yet. That's an effective strategy.

People complained about his inclusion in the lineup every day, mischaracterized his performance this year, and done everything other than call him a pedophile. All he's done thus far has been a productive presence in the lineup.

I have no idea what he's going to do for the rest of the year-but it might be a good idea to actually be happy with his production thus far and hope he continues this throughout the season, regardless of past performance. He's not going anywhere, so there's really no other option.

CUBS are on a pace to win 101 games this year

Fair enough, I actually didn't know that. But weren't Cedeno's numbers pretty subpar as well up until his last season? I'm honestly don't know because I don't follow MiLB as much as I should.

Its something a GM has to do every day on his job.

Even Neifi has had stretches where he walloped the ball. I

I never once, not even on cubs.com, saw someone root for Cedeno to be injured.

and a hot less-than-half season of hitting in the PCL has everybody sold on him and singing his praises and praying for severe injury of the incumbent? wow, if that isnt the definition of reactionary i do not know what is.

And I am praying that it keeps up. Although knowing Cubs luck, the Brewers and Cards would win 102 (if that's even possible.)
