Anyone heard anything on when Guzman's rehab? Any chance we may see him before July in the bigs? I'm not exactly sure when he had his surgery, so any help would be great!

I believe he is still limited to non-baseball activities down in Mesa. No real chance to see him before Sept, if then.

I wonder if he'll ever come back. I wouldn't mind seeing it, but it seems like he just can't get going.

One day, the guys going to be 35 years old in Iowa with an ERA in the mid 4s, and Hendry will still refuse to trade him.

Yeah, it's been stupid that Hendry hasn't traded him the last couple of seasons, given that his trade value is next to nil. Makes complete sense.

Guzman was throwing off flat ground at the end of spring training per Carrie Muskat.

It would be very nice to see him come back throwing 93 with a nice change/splitter, and come out of the pen. I think he would be a welcome addition to our team.... only if he is 100% healthy though.

it would be nice to see him come back as a starter with his talent

One step at a time. Let's just see if he will ever be able to pitch again.

It bothers the heck out of me that a short three years ago we thought our top 4 starters would be Wood, Prior, Z and Guzman, who was a can't-miss type of guy.

This guy is killing me, just cut him or trade him but get any payroll we have with him is a waste of money. It isn't like he has over-whelmingly proven himself.

How much do you think he is making?

Imagine what the Cubs could do with that ~$350,000 this season (plus the $800/month he gets while rehabbing). ANOTHER SECOND BASEMAN FOR THE BIG LEAGUE TEAM!!!

Hehe. Yeah, payroll would not be among my top concerns with Guzman. Witnessing him pitch well for an extended period without some part of his arm going to hell would be.

That's really really depressing to think about. Don't forget about Juan Cruz at the #5 spot. The guy has Pedro-like stuff.

He still has that stuff, his K/9 is sick. I don't know why he has never gotten a real chance to start in the bigs.

Yeah, he has been somewhat successful. I was more commenting on the lost hope of that group of pitchers.

If it is over 47,581 dollars it is two much.

He's had chances but he's always been injured. Can't really blame the organization for that one.

Were you talking about Cruz or Guzman as always injured? Guzman has been far to fragile. I think PV was talking about Cruz. He's been given a couple shots to start, but he still walks far too many guys. I'd bet he could outperform a lot of guys making more money than him though.

Oops, sorry I thought he was talking about Guz.

Forgive my ignorance, but does he even make that much? Isn't that around the major league minimum? If he's not on the major league team, does he still make that?

I believe being on the 40-man major league roster makes him eligible for the major league minimum.
