I'm very disappointed by this news.

Hopefully missing the 7th start won't cause me to lose this week too. Actually hopefully all my starts will happen as planned and no last minute changes :-).

I lead Raw by 25 points, plus he's already used up two starts while I've only used one. Lilly was very, very good to me (Thankfully the Cubs won anyway).

St. Louis got shutout by the Wandy =D> .

Its funny till it happens to the Cubs later this year.

Well Valverde just blew it 3-3 last I checked. Guess thats funny too :-).

Yay Valverde. I would've been doubly screwed had I started Gorzelanny. The Valverde -10 really hurts considering that Fuzzy had 16.5 points off 2 starts.

Why is Valverde on your bench now?

I was told that I could move players as long as the roster stays legal. This is what happened last week when Cordero got placed on reserves despite the fact that he was only day to day.

Hmmm. That doesn't sound right to me. Cordero being day to day is different than just switching players out. I'm under the impression that the only time you can take someone out (excluding SP) of your line up is if they are injured or traded. In the case of Cordero, he was slightly injured and listed as day to day, therefore a roster change would be justified. Valverde sucking wouldn't fall under that same theme.

I'll switch him back and ask that we do a better job with organizing the rules. There was confusion last week which contributed to the confusion here.

Although it didn't cost me the game last week, I'm not 100% sure I like it if a day to day reliever can get replaced. Although anyone can get hurt it eliminates the risk of taking a possible injury risk if there's no consequences to a non DL injury.

Juan can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm only aware of being able to replace guys when they aren't assured of playing time due to an injury. Cordero came up lame while warming up last week and he didn't get into what was a save opportunity. I was watching that game.

I'm supposed to be helping Juan organize the rules into one place, but I was jonesing so much for baseball that I ended up watching baseball nonstop this past week instead. The rest of this week is a bit hectic for me with the WPBA (Women's Professional Billiards Association) in town Wednesday through Sunday. I help organize that event, so the rules project will probably have to wait until next week.

Riot gets 5 points in a game he didn't start.

To be fair, Theriot didn't deserve that first SB. He was only out by about a mile and a quarter. Of course, as a Cubs fan, I'll take a few bad calls if it means a Cubs win.

It does bother me a bit when an umpire blows a call that badly, however.

You can change your lineup to remove a player. What you cannot do is swap them in and out. If you remove them, they are out for the rest of the week. I agree this is poorly defined.

why even allow us to swap them out at all? it would just be simpler to say the lineups (SP's excluded) are set on monday, end of story. if someone is hurt, you can remove him. when he's better, you can put him back in.

allowing everybody to take a guy out once during a week is tough to police and could allow teams to gain games played advantages from position players.

for instance...lots of teams have mondays off. you could play an OF that plays on monday (if one of your regular OF doesn't play that day), then swap in the regular for tuesday.

just set the lineups on monday and leave them (barring injury).

pretty much the way I understood it. Guy had to be hurt enough to where CBS recognized it with the first aid symbol. Nothing where the announcer claims he is sore and is taking the day off.

So you can remove a player one time from one spot for the rest of the week? I put Valverde back in the lineup but if that's the rule I might take him out for tomorrow. We definitely need to get this one clarified and made final. For example, if I have players with no game on the last day I would totally change them out with a reserve.

well Adam, one of the things we have always been able to rely on in this league is that the players are honest. Everyone should understand that this is not a daily swap meet where he who makes the most lineup changes wins. So, you are not allowed to swap players to gain an extra game. However, if someone is sucking and you want to replace him, that should be allowed. Another option is that if you pull someone from your lineup, you have to drop that player.

I think the policy of self-policing has worked quite well to this point and I prefer that to a gestapo type rule system.

No, you cannot do that. Since the last day is Sunday, that is pretty damn unlikely anyway. The rule allows you to change out Valverde if he sucks and you are tired of him. Then you can find a replacement and sub him out. You cannot swap players in and out.

Juan, I began a draft of the rules and started putting the additions from various threads and the league message board. I forwarded the list to Brian so he could tweak it. Since he's already found something to fix I'll let him forward his draft to you. I do know that the replacement rule was not in the draft.

Not griping or anything, but an updated and concise list of the rules would help me out being one of the new guys. I had some time so I thought I'd help out.
