Juan,

I've run into an issue with the "keep all fa on waivers" format we've gone to this year. since waivers only run on Sunday morning, it becomes very hard to make trades during the week. For instance, if someone offered me a trade yesterday that included Upton, I'd have to play without a second baseman for the rest of the week until waivers run Sunday night. With the relatively short bench, it's hard to keep backups for all positions. That means that you've either got to be willing to go a player short or only execute trades on Saturdays after games have started.

Is there a point to keeping the players who have been FA's for more than a week on waivers forever?

Thanks

I noticed this last night as well. I liked how we did it last year with the players dropped being placed on waivers, but everyone who was a FA was able to be picked up.

This same issue will come up if anyone has an unexpected injury where their player goes to the DL. League rules have always stated that we can replace that player with another player midweek (As long as they go on the DL), but with the current waiver system this wouldn't be possible if you're filling your need through Free Agency.

I personally like the idea of being able to add a player who has been a FA for over one week. Then again, I'm pretty much on the computer for most of the day and have the ability/opportunity to pick someone up. I can see where someone might prefer waiting until Saturday night and letting the waiver order run through but I'll admit that I like the old way.

Is the waiver thing because the season hasn't really started yet? I noticed it too, but I assumed it would change once the season started.

That's possible. I hadn't thought of that.

Nope -- I'm a sub commish for the league, so I can see the setup. There's an option called, "Free agent players always on waivers"

The option is turned on in our league, which means that the FA's will stay on waivers all the time and can only be picked up through waiver runs.

How many sub commishes to we have?

Well, when the first subcommish is even less available than the commish, we needed another sub-commish. :D

So what you're saying is.......... It's all your fault.

That option needs to be turned off. I agree we need to be able to pick up players that have cleared waivers during the week in case of trades or injuries. Another reason you might need to pick up a player during the week is if a player on your team gets sent to the minors. If the current setup remains I think we need more reserve spots to allow an adequate number of backups so we wouldn't need to fill a position during the week.

So, what does the other subcommish do on his first day on the job? Take a vacation. :D

But hey, I'm back!
