Hey Truffle, I see you lurking around, got any input on this? ;)

yeah, don't use weather.com.

but anyway, i just looked at a couple of models (i was forecasting for middle east & asia this morning, so not really in touch w/the u.s. weather), and they suggest that chicago would be in the warm sector, to the south of the warm front. that's at least somewhat good news; the weather to the north of the warm front will be a chilly, steady rain that would pretty much guarantee a washout. to the south of the front, it would be more convective (showery) and there's at least a chance that the game could be played.

What do you recommend besides weather.com?

When I want to look at the weather in the Chicago area I look at local TV station websites (WGN usually).

The Trib (Skilling) this morning is forecasting a high of 64 with a low of 40 for Monday.

Thunderstorms until early afternoon, then partly sunny. Chilly, then dramatically milder as winds turn southerly. More heavy storms by evening.

Doesn't look so bad if that holds up. That would be one of the best opening days ever, if we can dodge the major storms.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll be at Wrigley Monday and Wednesday (H 57, L 40, Sunny).

this isn't all that bad...they have an off day on the 1st...so...they can just play it on tuesday no biggie

It's a biggie for people who have spent money on tickets and are taking days off from work to go to the game.

the taking time off of work i can understand, but the tickets should still be good the next day

sorry, just trying to shine a little light...i am also working from the standpoint of i am probably missing opening day because of school and if this happens i wouldn't have to...

The tickets might be good, but that doesn't mean people will be able to use them. I could probably get the day off, but lots and lots of people couldn't just take off another day of work to go the next day.

Hey, like I said, for me, probably not that big a problem. I'll just take another day off. But a rainout would suck, regardless, because it means waiting longer for Cubs baseball.

yeah...hopefully today's game can make me feel a little bit better...but seriously...

color me severely nervous about this lineup decision

theriot is becoming a non-liked cub

i wouldn't mind waiting a little bit longer if it meant that theriot was going to be getting the least amount of PA on the team...

I think what I am going to do is take a half day Monday and leave work at like 11. If it gets rained out, I will take a half day again the next day.

Previously, I was planning on taking a full day off and being at the bar by 9am.

It would really piss me off if it got PPD for Tuesday because it probably wouldn't be televised outside of Chicago and I've (like most) been ready to kill for Monday to come. I can't wait another day.

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Breezy, with a east northeast wind 10 to 20 mph becoming south. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Monday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 1am, then a chance of showers. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Cloudy and breezy, with a low around 36. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

An 80+ degree home opener? That I can't believe, even if it was April 17th.

I could take both days off of work, but then I would probably be told to take many, many more days off.

Yeah this will likely really suck for the thousands of out-of-towners who are counting on a 3-day weekend in Chicago capped off with a Cubs game. Not everyone who goes to Cubs games are from the city and can just take another day off work.

It's also going to suck if the game starts, then has a lengthy delay early on... that's going to be a wasted start for Big Z. Though thinking about the previous few Opening Day's, that might actually be a good thing! Either way, I'm taking a half day at work and have to leave my house to get to the airport by 3:30 so hopefully there aren't any delays and I'll be able to catch most of the game.
