Well, that half really sucked.

 

I guess I can take heart in the fact that even as pitifully Tennessee played in the first half, we're still only down 7.

 

Also, last year we led by a huge margin at the half and blew it. Maybe this year we'll have our great half in the second half...

for some reason i love bill raftery but can't stand dick vitale. guess it kinda seems like raftery is just being himself and enjoying the game, but vitale seems too interested in self-promotion.

 

Raftery seems like he's trying way to hard to make a big deal out of a play. It just doesn't seem like it comes natural to him.

Am I weird for kind of liking Dick Vitale? I realize he's a bit annoying at times, but taken in modest proportions, he's really pretty decent.

i was irate about that. a lot of people had long beach st beating tennessee in the first round (i told them that long beach state played nobody all year and got spanked by the good teams they did play), and i had tennessee beating ohio state in that game. i thought it was over at halftime, and they completely choked.

 

(plus i was pissed that ohio state lucked their way into that game by beating xavier, in part because greg oden threw someone to the floor and it wasn't called a technical)

Oh man, I thought the ball game was over at the half last year. As well as we played in the first half, I never dreamed we'd utterly collapse the way we did.

 

If I remember right, I also had UT winning that game and then falling in the Elite 8 to Memphis. After we had taken them to the wire in Columbus earlier in the year, I knew we could beat them. Just couldn't close the door.

That said, I fully expect a better second half. Both coaches are likely reeming the teams during the break.

I hate you CBS. I realize that not only is UCLA in the West region but that I am in California as well but why are you showing me this game instead of the much better Tennessee-Louisville game?

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I think I actually like Verne Lundquist better as a basketball broadcaster more than Dick Enberg.
