Me, I love my pitching (AJB, Halliday, Sheets, Weaver, Garza, Bonzer) and my relief pitching too. Bat wise, I love Howard, Hanley, Granderson, Gordon and Markakis. I hope for come back years from Bay and Dye.

I think I can compete with this team. A couple big trades to better my offense, starting pitching, or bench wouldn't hurt.

Top five pitchers:

Santana

Verlander

Lackey

Perez

Gallardo

Let's see...The best pitcher in the game, the best young pitcher in the game, a year after year stud, a guy who looks like he's figured it out under Peterson and one of the best young arms I've seen in a long damn time.

Next six pitchers:

Hughes

Chamberlain

Parra

Sanchez

Reyes

Liz

All those guys are big arms. I'm actually very excited to get Sanchez where I did considering he's in line to get a rotation spot this year with Lowry on the DL. Reyes is a much, much better pitcher than he looked last year. Liz is the next Daniel Cabrera. Parra is very underrated. And Hughes and Chamberlain are going to be studs - the only question is whether or not it is this year.

However, this is the weakest offense I've had in Roadkill unless some youngins break in faster than I think they will. If Pujols DL's on me, I'm really going to be hurting.

I'm happier with the team going into 2009, actually. I don't have a single player who was exempt this year that won't be next year. Going into 2009, here are my players who should be experienced, yet still exempt:

Escobar

Hermida (I love the rule change!)

Hamilton

Rasmus

Upton

Verlander (I really, really love the rule change!)

Gallardo

Parra

Hughes

Chamberlain

Sanchez

Liz

Too bad we're limited to 10 keepers. But I'll have a whole season to evaluate which ones to keep and which to trade. And these guys will make great trade bait during the year and in the offseason.

I'm some what happy with my team. I have some obvious moves.

My pitching is deep. While my rotation was top heavy last year and I struggled to find those last starts of the week many times getting screwed by the #4 or #5s of a team. I don't think I'll have that problem with:

Tim Hudson

John Smoltz

Jeff Francis

Jon Garland

Jeremy Guthrie

Joe Saunders

My offense is decent with Berkman, Cabrera, Renteria, Burrell, Willingham, and Aramis.

I hope Suzuki plays like he did when he debuted last year. Same goes for Asdrubal Cabrera whom I'm expecting to be a great sleeper at 2B.

I would like to package Aramis to someone for a top pitcher. I'd include Aramis and one of the guys listed above. Any interest let me know.

I like my team, but I have some ifs

With Beckett and Zambrano, I have the best 1-2 punch I have ever had. Westbrooke, Arroyo, and Zito round off my starters. I have Buchholtz, Jurrjens, and Slowey in the wings.

I will miss Krod, but hopefully Isringhausen and Codero get it done.

Beltran, Dunn, and Griffey make for a nice outfield. But i worry about injuries. Maybin waits in the wings.

An infield of Zimmerman, Tejada, Kendrick, Votto, and Mauer could be nice. Kendrick and Votto are the keys. I like their long term potential, but will they star this year or next? I need an injury free season from Mauer.

Reynolds will DH, with Lind or Overbay as my bench.

So I think my team is good enough to make the play-offs. But to do better, I need my youngsters to come through. Maybin, Votto, Kendrick, Bucholtz, etc...

Another thing I like and I think I'm starting to get much better at is my minor league guys. I only drafted 3 this year, but all 10 of mine are now in BA's top 100. I like seeing that. I think for sleepers, I need Orlando Hudson, Dye and Bay to all contribute. I really would like a big bat for the utility spot. Anyone interested in some minor leaguers and possibly Dye let me know and maybe we could make a deal.

I might make a trade with you but Dye doesn't really get me too interested. What else can you offer?

i'll be honest...you guys better hope liriano doesn't return to form because if he does, i'm expecting to put up some serious points.

a top 3 catcher

potentially two top 5 1b

a top 5 2b

the top ss

three top 20 OF

poor ty wigginton really feels like a piece of [expletive].

yeah, my rotation has questions, but there is top 30 potential from wang, hill and liriano with even higher ceilings than that for hill and liriano.

and, as always, my pen should be pretty good.

My offense is:

#1 catcher

#1 1B (for as long as he's on the field)

Top 5 2B

...

and a lot of questions. :(

My pitching ranks right up there with the best, IMO. I do have some injury concerns throughout my line up, but I have some depth.

Webb

Cain

Pedro

Vasquez

Randy Johnson

James Shields

Daniel Cabrera

Johnny Cueto

Adam Miller

My offense reaks of break out years (Rickie Weeks, Stephen Drew, Edwin Encarnacion, Conor Jackson) and a comeback player of the year threat (Vernon Wells), and hopefully they do just that. I was really hoping a better 1b would be available than Pena with the 7th pick, but if he does what he did last year, I'll win some games this year. I'm probably going to have to decide between Sheffield or Milton Bradley as my last roster spot.

I didn't finish messing with the prerankings cause I was going to make the draft. Then of course I miss the draft for the first time ever. Yep its a mess. Too bad Weiters isn't making the team out of ST. That would help.

I thought it would be interesting to revisit this after half a season. I've had some bad breaks and I'm also suffering from a couple poor roster management decisions at this point.

I really should have kept Sanchez over Ollie. Gallardo's knee hurt a lot (so to speak). Verlander sucking for the first third of the season hurt even more. Hopefully Chamberlain continues to get stretched out and more efficient with his pitches, because nobody can hit him worth a damn.

I was right about the offense, though. Swisher's lack of production for the #2 draft pick and especially Vic's total suckage have been killing me. I figured it would be a growing year for Upton + Hermida. However, I got too excited about Upton's early performance and traded away Hart too quickly. Injuries and DL time for Pujols and ARod didn't help, either.

Plenty of hope for the second half, but I certainly don't have the level of talent I've had over the past few years.

liriano and hill have KILLED me. not only have they sucked, but they forced me into trading martin for blanton (who has sucked) and sanchez (who has been good, thankfully) in an attempt to patch work my rotation.

injuries to rollins and soriano have kept me from competing for the high score in the league and first place, and fielder and hawpe's early struggles didn't help either.

i don't really know what i could do to upgrade at this point since there aren't a whole lot of for-sure sellers...and the ones that are out of it are guys i've never had much luck trading with or don't have anything that could help me.

a rebound from towles, a return to form for zimmerman and a good contribution from liriano could help patch up a few of my holes.

Why the twins are wasting Liriano's healthy innings in the minors is beyond me. Especially since they are somehow in the race.

i don't get it either. his main problem when he was up was throwing strikes, and he's walked 1 or fewer in 9 of his last 10 starts. he's had a few rough starts where he's given up five runs or so, but i have to think he could at least be league average in the big leagues right now. k'ed nine in seven shut out innings on 6/30.

i'm guessing he starts the second half in the twins rotation.

What I like best about my team is my starting pitching depth (although I'd be happier if they were more consistent) and my tag-team bullpen. I also like the production I've gotten lately from Vlad, Drew, and even Ankiel (although admittedly that probably wasn't the best trade I've made).

3 top of the 9 point scorers offensively (Kinsler, Sizemore, Wright). With Reyes right around top 20, Hart starting to heat up and Magglio (one of last year's top scorers) coming back shortly. Two top 6 pitchers (Volquez, Hamels) help me have a well rounded team....at the top. And the best thing about it is my top 4 hitters and top 2 pitchers were keepers, so I put myself in a good position before the season started. Wait, I guess the best thing would actually be that 3 of those 6 I pointed out are exempt and Sizemore and Wright aren't going anywhere.

My team has been a major disappointment and I don't want to talk about it. :bye:

Seriously, I'm speechless with how this team is currently sporting a 7-6 record with a very good possibility of being .500 after this week ends. A lot of underachievers, disappointing performances and injuries have turned a potential powerhouse into a threat to miss the playoffs entirely.

my team has been mediocre - which is about what I expected. My pitching was just awful to begin the year. I've remedied that but been left with some inconsistent kids and a weak offense.

My pitching has been bad. My 1st pick is broke for the year, my second or third pick is no longer on my team because he has forgotten how to pitch effectively. A. Cabrera was the start of a bunch of bad 2B and Renteria has been nothing special at SS.

Other than that my team is awesome.

well, i'm not surprised i have three top 15 SP's, but i am surprised that they are duchscherer, dempster and danks. if you would have told me none of hill, wang and liriano would be on my roster in july, i'd have guessed that i'd be in last place.

Mid-season progress report

Zambrano has been good, but Beckett has been inconsistent with nagging injuries. Westbrooke was good until injuries wrecked his season. Arroyo was traded for Conor Jackson. Zito never amounted to anything. Luckily Slowey, Jurrjens and Blackburn have come through. Hopefully Buchholz will too in the second half.

My pen fell apart due to injuries early. Hopefully my latest duo will suffice.

My infield has been OK. Votto has been good, but inconsistent. Kendrick, when healthy, has been good. Tejada has overcome steriod concerns and has played well. Reynolds has played well enough to allow me to trade Zimmerman and pick up a draft pick for next year. Jackson has been a nice pick-up for me. Brandon Wood looks like he will be a bust.

My outfield has been good, but I need a little more from Beltran and Dunn. Maybin and McCutcheon will likely only be late season call ups. Hopefully late enough that I can still stash them in the minors during the off-season.

So my team is 1 game out at the break and so still in the play-off hunt. I need Votto and Kendrick to come through. Also, Beckett must be the stud that he is capable of being. The next couple of weeks will be the test. If my team falters, then Beltran, Dunn, Griffey, and/or Beckett will make nice trading chips.
