I hate to say this but thought Lieber was going in the home game against the "D-Backs" and Marshall was throwing the game against the "A's". Thats what was posted in the clubhouse but I also saw that the Cubs website was saying Marshall also.

looking for a big day out of jonesy. ownings will probably homer as well. have the diamondbacks ever thought about trying him out at first a few times when he's not pitching? is his hitting good enough?

Melvin was toying with the idea of playing him at 1B when he's not pitching, but decided against it once the spring started.

Lou's comments regarding Pie on the broadcast were interesting. He said Pie has separated himself from Fuld as far as CF is concerned; but at the end of the interview he reminded Len and Bob, "we are going to be starting a young guy at catcher and we will probably be starting a young guy in center".

Would it be too much to read into that as Pie still a possibility to be traded rather than being "untouchable"?

I hope the WGN radar gun is off. It shows Gallagher throwing 84-86 and had Lieber 80-83.

Noticed that too...

Spoke with Sean and yes the Gun was off as he was throwing Mid-90's

I don't know what y'all thought but Lieber, Pie, Fontenot, Gallagher, and Soriano among others looked really good today. Cedeno and Rammy had a pretty good game as well. And i really enjoyed the interview with Fukudome as well. Ascaino got hit at times, but ended up with the save. Nice to see the Cubs win for once. They said that Lou was getting a little testy with all the losses. Oh BTW, tomorrow's game against the Royals will also be televised on WGN tomorrow. Oh hey, I just realized I probably should have posted this in game threads...maybe I still will.

I see that the A's came back in their final at bat and won the game. I see that Takatsu was charged with a blown save. That's ridiculous, they need to ship him out now! I know it's only Spring Training but there's no excuse for losing. I hope Lou explodes.

Based on that, I would guess it was off about 7 mph. 91-93 for Sean and 87-90 for Lieber seems about right.

Sweet Lou isn't going to "explode" because of a ST game, but I pretty sure, he'll let the team know that this "losing games late" crap will not be tolerated.

As for Shingo, I felt since the signings, this was nothing more then to give Fukudome a "countryman" in camp. But I pretty sure, "Mr. Zero" knows that if he wants to play baseball in 2008, it will be either in Japan, or Iowa, or some AAA team.

Just watched the game (DVR) and Lieber looked good.

i really really hope he can stay healthy because the ball is coming out of his hand very very nicely thus far!
