Can Houfpauir play a corner OF?

He's mostly played 1B in his career, and is viewed as a *very* good defensive 1B. But he has played some OF and my understanding is that while inexperienced, that he looks pretty natural out there. Not sure about his RF arm. But I think he could sell as a 1B/corner OF utility guy.

You guys think a guy like Hoffpauir is bitter that he's not in a crap organization like the Pirates or Giants where he would actually have a chance to play meaningful time at a younger age?

Well, in 2006 he would have been called up in August but he had just sustained a season-ending injury.

Cintron having a pretty good Spring. Something tells me that he has a very good chance of making this team. :x

It is highly likely he'll make this team

I think I want to pass on all of your inside information from now on. Please just lie to us to make us feel better about things. Thanks! :D :D

you realize that if cedeno goes for BRob...then cintron will be severely needed right?

Right now, that's a big if.

True, but even if he doesn't, it's down to Cintron/Fontenot/Fuld for the last spot on the team. They already said that only one of Pie/Fuld will likely make the roster, so it's down to Cintron or Fontenot. Cintron probably takes it because of his flexibility.

I'll cross that bridge when the trade actually happens.

dude...in the roberts thread you have generally been optimistic...maybe with a little sarcasm thrown in...but slightly optimistic none-the-less...why the change of heart?

Samardzija looked as good as I've seen him look. He worked on all his pitches and had pretty good command. The Cubs absolutely will not rush him up. If there are no injuries or severe poor performance, he'll likely spend all year in the minors with maybe a September call-up.

Was he throwing his new split? Has the changeup been scrapped? (Thanks!)

Bruce you're very kind!! Any time you spot a crazy english guy trying to convince people he was a chicagoan trapped in an englishmans body around the bars outside wrigley I'll be more than happy to buy you a proper beer/Guinness for your troubles!! 8-)

I'm told Michael Wuertz pitched one inning today, striking out two and getting the other guy to fly out.

Great to see Wuertz ready to make an appearance, and to have a good one. He's been an integral part of the bullpen. Hopefully his arm will be in shape and he'll be able to do his thing this year.

We went from throwing a one-hitter to giving up 4 runs in the ninth????

When you having Lahey and Campusano closing it out, sure. It's only ST.

hill has to get those walks down, i wonder how many pitches he threw

I wouldn't worry about it. He doesn't walk a lot of guys.

Might be a result of him trying new stuff with his deliveries.
