Has anybody heard anything at all? I haven't heard a single mention of him anywhere.

The only thing mention of him, was he re-upped for 1 yr.

I haven't heard anything about him so far. He has had shoulder problems in ST each of the last 2-3 years, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if that was back again.

I remember reading at some point that he was looking bad (as he usually does this time of year) and bouncing sliders or something like that. Also know that he was there for photo day when they mislabled his pics as Jason Marquis (IIRC).

They finally said something about him on cubs.com.

That's what they were saying about Prior last spring.

No relief: Right-handed reliever Michael Wuertz hasn't pitched yet, but Lou Piniella says there's nothing wrong, just that Wuertz needs more time to build arm strength.

Veteran Chad Fox and youngster Jose Ascanio got rocked Tuesday.

"It's still early in camp, but some of these guys aren't helping themselves," Piniella said.

I could be wrong, but I believe Wuertz has started each of the past 3 springs with issues that held him back at the beginning. He seems to take a long time to get ready, to the point that the managers always wonder if he's really going to be able to help the big club - yet he always ends up helping the big club.

Wuertz apparently spends the winters writing with a feather quill pen.

And doing nothing else.

He always struck me as a poet.

He pitched a 1-2-3 inning today with 2Ks. The rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.

I'm hoping Howry can have a good season and the Cubs can let him ride off into the sunset of an overpaid contract w/the Yankees and Wuertz can take his place in 2009.

It's so confusing when you two post back-to-back.

Until those posts, I just assumed it was the same person that was behaving erratically.
