No Gary Scott?

Santo easily (for now). Aram might give him a good run if this poll were run five years from now. Bill Madlock would have been a possibility if more of his career had been with the Cubs (I'll never forgive the Cubs for trading Madlock for Murcer and Ontiveros).

No love for Ron Cey? How about Steve Buechelle? Kevin Orie and Jose Hernandez are disappointed as well.

Horny.

You and me both brother....that crushed me when I was a kid. Add to that I hated Murcer with a passion during his days as a Yank.

Have you ever noticed how many bad Cub trades involve trading younger black players for over-rated white players?

Madlock did a Wrigley no-no. He was uppity. I dont mean this to sound racist. The Wrigleys really struggled with Black players who didnt fit into the Banks type persona.

I don't know about the race thing but maybe they just didn't want anyone that was uppity or outspoken.

He also had the nerve to ask to actually be paid what he was worth, which I recall being his real undoing as a Cub.

this isn't close, nor should it be

it will be in a couple of years

I hope so.

By the way, I'll just go ahead and reiterate what I've said numerous times on here and what most people probably feel: It is outrageous that Santo isn't in the hall. He ranks as high as five on most 3rd baseman rankings and certainly not below ten on any rankings. I doubt there is anyone else who is unanimously a top 10 player all-time at their position that isn't in the Hall of Fame or won't get in. Also, he did all of this while being the only player in MLB history to have Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes.
