I would love nothing more than to see the Giants win for the simple fact that it would be awesome to see the entire New York media suddenly kiss Eli's ass. The dude has done nothing but catch flack because he's Peyton's brother and the NY media wrongly rips him to shreds and blows every negative thing Eli does out of proportion. Normally I don't pull for New York teams but I'm going to make an exception in this case.

And either way, I'm pulling for the NFC in the Super Bowl regardless of who is in it.

do they rip him for being peyton's brother, or for starting his career like a whiny bitch and then proceeding to not be very good?

Plenty of QBs take a few years to figure things out. It's really more the norm than a guy like Peyton. Relatively few QBs are performing at a pro bowl level in their 2nd year. I'm with soccer on this in the sense that I believe too much was expected too soon from Eli, and I do believe part of the reason was because of the pedigree. He's playing like a worthy starter now, and has for awhile.

It all began for me right before the draft. I hate the Eagles more than anything, but I don't hate McNabb, same with the Redskins and I don't hate Campbell (well he hasn't done much yet), I hate the Giants but I hate Eli.

Bears/Colts was pretty regional too last year. Did anyone outside of Illiana and Tennessee (Manning) care?

The Colts have become extremely popular. Before this year's undefeated run by the Patriots, the Colts were involved in almost all the highest rated games in recent memory. (Excluding Super Bowls and such, those will always be higher regardless of who's playing.)

I am guessing it has something to do with the 324,579 commercials staring Peyton Manning.

I'm guessing you don't like him because he whined his way out of SD. I'm not thrilled with it either. But I don't think that's what most New Yorkers think, they just thought they were getting Peyton's clone and so when he turned out to have a lower ceiling (which is pretty clear to me....and was on draft day, too) they freaked out a little bit.

....but having a lower ceiling than one of the greatest QBs ever doesn't mean you can't still do well.

Ha ha, that's probably a reason. But they've been very good, typically high-scoring and have star power (due to commercials somewhat, I'm sure).

It's still odd for me seeing the Colts so popular. I used to have to listen to games on the radio because they were blacked out (not always), and when I went to games I could easily walk up and buy tickets right before the game.

I think Eli has a ton of potential, but needs to work on mental strength more than anything else. To me that might be one of the most important factors in playing in New York too. The people there are like sharks when they see blood in the water.

Eli was never as good in college as Peyton, so I'm not sure why they expected him to be as good as a pro

....because they see "Manning" on his jersey and they're irrational fans like almost everyone else. They're from New York, so they wield the biggest press pressure-cooker on the planet unlike other cities.

Someone from Jacksonville who thought Leftwich would be the next great thing can voice his disappointment all he wants and few care -- even if he's in the media. New Yorkers bring to bear this media machine that is off the rails intense.

No one who can properly analyze football expected Eli to be as good as Peyton...Peyton was probably the the best QB prospects to come out of college in the last 17 years. That doesn't mean Eli wasn't a good prospect (yes, he has disappointed so far and not because of these unreal Peyton-like expectations).

It's not really fair to compare them in college seeing as Peyton played at Tennessee on a team who's core returned the year after Peyton graduated to win the first ever BCS championship. On the other hand, Eli played on some horrible Ole Miss teams.

He was still an outstanding collegiate QB. 10,119 career passing yards (fifth all time in the SEC) and 81 TD's (third all time in the SEC).

Yes....yes he did.

Eli is someone who always seemed like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. When I knew him in college he seemed to have this quiet sadness, which to me was a sign of pressure. His pedigree is his gift, but at the same time is his curse, and always will be.

Looks like Moss may have some distractions this week.

A temporary restraining order was issued Monday requiring the star wide receiver to stay at least 500 feet from a woman who alleged he committed "battery causing serious injury" to her at her Florida home on Jan. 6.

Moss denied the allegation by Rachelle Washington, which he called "this situation of extortion," and said he was "furious" about it. The restraining order was issued in the Broward County 17th Judicial Circuit of Florida.

Tsk tsk, Mr. Moss

Charger @ New England

Giants @ Green Bay

I don't really think the Chargers will win, but I'm going to pretend I do. Here's hoping for a Patriots loss and then Randy Moss going to prison for hitting a woman.

It's going to be Farve Vs. Brady for the Superbowl. Green Bay fans better bundle up tonight. The weather is going to be unbearable. Edited by C.C.
