Yeah, I don't see the Cubs being as enthusiastic about concerts or outdoor hockey games as they used to be. While there's potential profit to be made from using Wrigley for additional events, there's often a concomitant repair/maintenance cost that somehow never gets factored in.

they could always do it in Millenium Park!

That would be pretty awesome if they could somehow find a place to put temorary stands to fit 20,000 people :)

Glad you saw that McD is nothing but a marketing man.

Ha, thats laughable. He did more in his short stint as interim team president, then sweater vest did in his entire tenure.

What do you think he did? He is a marketing man, and by all accounts, a pretty good one. That's what the Blackhawks need, in a lot of ways.

It certainly appears he opened the path for Hendry to get some spending money to improve the club.

I think he was in the right place at the right time to pad his resume, nothing more.

For the record, I feel like having an outdoor hockey game at Wrigley would be a horrible idea.

But it would be cool to go into the ballpark in the dead of winter.

I still think the Iowa Cubs should play a weekend series at Wrigley. Why not?

An Iowa/Memphis matchup could be a lot of fun.

I don't think it would be horrible. Once the field has been in place for a year, I feel like it will be able to easily handle the temporary rink. And I think it would make more sense to put it in a smaller venue like Wrigley, than 60,000 seat Soldier Field.

revenue be damned...don't use the field for anything but baseball. Beaver Stadium is used for exactly 8 football games per year and nothing else, and as such, has one of the nicest natural surface fields in the country. Heinz Field (in Pittsburgh) hosts Steelers, Panthers and about a brazillion high school games during football season, plus some concerts and other events, and is probably the worst natural field surface in the country. Coincidence?

Honestly it seemed like he was joking to me.

I love the idea of a weekend series at for the Iowa cubs , If they priced the tickets right we might be able to outdraw the White Sox that weekend.

yeah i am glad they don't whore the stadium out for other events, but i am really hoping that they do a pens-flyers game at beaver stadium. that'd be awesome.
