Must break Scott's heart (if he had one) to know that he was dropped by a client that just landed a 275 Million dollar 10 year contract. Guess he will have tears in his eyes as he cashes the commission check, knowing it is the last big deal for the guy anyway. A-Rod will be 42 when this one expires. How many more contracts will he need? As far as baseball goes, A-Rod doesn't need an agent. Maybe that is why he picked up an entertainment agent. The only negotiating left is with Advertisers.

This will not hurt Boras' business at all. All these younger guys looking for the big payday will still come calling, knowing Scott will get them dollars. This does not change anything.

I thought the Goldman Sachs guys negotiated his deal.

Boras let his ego get in the way of doing whats best for his client.

What was best for ARod was getting out of NY. Boras could have gotten him that. But Alex did end up with as big a contract as anybody could have realistically imagined.

What was best for Arod was going where he and his family wanted to go. Boras thought he could have gotten more money that was not there and didn't listen to Arod's input. The fact is Arod didn't want to leave NY despite what we think is best for him. Boras didn't listen and continued his renegade agent style.

Goldman Sachs guys negotiated A-Rod talking to Hank "I can't shut up!" Steinbummer. A-Rod basically negotiated his own deal, as Yanks did not want Boras in the room. Boras basically handled the final drafting of the deal. However, Boras was the Agent, so he still gets his cut.

I always thought that Boras did get his requisite 5% of the new ARod deal?

Oh, he'll get it. All in $100 dollar bills. He's just not going to like what A-Rod does with those $100 bills before he mails them over.

Will give a whole new meaning to the term "dirty money".

That's closer to the version I heard, although I'm sure it was Warren Buffett who advised ARod to re-open the lines of communication with Hank. I don't know exactly what role GS played.
