According to a source at http://www.mlbtraderumors.com, Japanese pitcher Hiroki Kuroda will sign with the Dodgers. No reported money or length on that deal. If true, this could have a substantial impact on the Cubs. First, by signing Kuroda, the Dodgers are free to trade one of their talented young pitchers for Erik Bedard. As many outlets as reported, MacPhail will not trade Roberts until Bedard and/or Tejada are gone. Therefore, if the Dodgers can take Bedard off McPhailure's hands, the Cubs should be clear to acquire Roberts.

Well, the insiders at OriolesHangout have been reporting all day that a big trade is about to go down. They said medical records have been traded between the O's and Dodgers and that Bedard has been informed of a trade.

If that happens, they believe the way will then be cleared for a Roberts to the Cubs deal.

Okay if this deal happens someone has to post a link to the thread in DodgerBlues (i think it was)

I must have missed this thread, because I posted this in the Kukudome/ Kuroda thread:

Hiroki Kuroda-S- Player Dec. 12 - 2:37 am et

Hiroki Kuroda reportedly informed the Hiroshima Carp on Tuesday night that he planned to sign with the Dodgers.

He's expected to leave for the U.S. as soon as Wednesday to take his physical and sign the contract, which is probably worth about $30 million for three years. At that price, he's no worse of a gamble than Carlos Silva or Kyle Lohse. Still, he's not a great bet to be more than a fourth starter and he could always turn out to be a Kaz Ishii or maybe even a Kei Igawa.
