I can't find it anymore, but there was a pretty good article that compared several advanced fielding metrics, and Rate2 was easily the worst. It's not a surprise, since I'm pretty sure it doesn't use PBP data.

bp likes rate2 because they can find rate2 as long as they have a boxscore. ex they can use it for guys like ty cobb
