eh, i wasn't exactly wowed by daniel...he's a product of mizzou's system. he certainly is accurate and made good reads, but i wasn't bowled over by his arm strength or anything. i don't know if he completed a pass that he threw over 20 yards all night. reesing on the other hand, completed a number of long/difficult throws. if reesing were five inches taller, i don't think there'd be much doubt that he'd be a more successful nfl qb.

Daniel looked like an NFL caliber QB to me. He reminded me a good bit of the fella in my avatar.

And did Kansas' O-line give up on that last play or what. Those guys should be forced to run a gauntlet or something.

My only question is, why didn't Kansas try another onside kick after the safety? You are allowed to onside kick after that, and it was still a 1 possession game but they just gave up.

How can you do an onsides kick off a safety? Isn't it a punt?

Typically it is, but for some reason they let Kansas tee it up like normal. You can still onsides a punt though, it just takes a little creativity to get a good one.

He can gun it down field when he wants to. I was kind of surprised that we didn't see any bombs. But Chase's biggest strengths are his accuracy and his ability to make things happen (as we saw on the TD pass to Alexander where he scrambled around for about 10 seconds). 40/49 is incredible. But when you consider that the Mizzou receivers had 3 or 4 drops, the 2 or 3 balls that Daniel threw away, and the missed pass interference call on the Maclin play when he went deep, you're looking at a QB that made 2 or 3 bad throws out of about 43 attempts.

Its a free kick. I don't think you can use a tee though but I believe you can kick it like a field goal.

That was the most unbelievable sporting event I've ever been to. The crowd was just electric and loud as hell. That was so damn fun. I nearly had a heart attack at the end there, but Mizzou was able to hang on. And after the safety it was one of the craziest celebrations I've ever been a part of. Everyone jumping up and down, high fiving, hugging each other. It was awesome.

no, you can't onsides a punt. if you choose to actually punt it (rather than fake it) you are conceding change of possession. this is why a punt returner can choose to let a punt go and the kicking team only "downs" the ball if they touch it (as opposed to an onsides where they would be able to recover it after 10 yards and keep possession). i'm pretty positive that you can't onsides after a safety (the kick is considered a "free kick" and can either be kicked off a tee or punted at the kicking team's discretion)

This isn't the first time that situation happened to Mizzou. They got a safety on aTm near the end of that game, and aTm tried to recover the short kick. Afterward it was called something like a bunt kick, and it was apparently legal. Either KU didn't know about it or was just conceding the game.

hmmm, i've never seen anyone try such a thing on the post-safety kick. probably because you're way back at the 20 yard line
