We really don't know who really is the bad guy when it comes to the ARod contract but considering how demanding Boras is and how he was talking up his client I will side with the Yankees on this one. They made it clear they would not negotiate if ARod opted out. Nobody is going to give ARod 350million and if they do, they are idiots.

Thank you.

The "bad guys" are the idiot Yankees fans who villified ARod for every move he made (and then pretended they weren't blaming ARod), the idiot media who constantly hounded ARod, and the idiot Yankees insiders (including Joe Torre and Jeter) who fed the ARod feeding frenzy.

I have repeatedly said that I am one Yankee fan that never boo'd A-Rod. I want anyone wearing my teams uni to suceed. But that doesn't mean I have to like the guy. I have admitted his greatness, but I was never a fan when he was in Seattle or Texas. His numbers speak for themselves, so does his salary. I simply want Payroll down and have said MANY times on here that he is not the reason the Yankees struggle in the post-season. There are several players that I would like elsewhere, some still current Yankees and some (THANKFULLY) former Yankees.

Methinks thou doth protest too much.

Meh, I didn't like ARod much with Seattle and I didn't like him much with Texas. I absolutely hated him when he was on the Yankees.

If he were somehow signed to play for the Cubs?

He'd become my favorite player in the game.

I'm hearing they may stick with in house options like Betemit and Phillips at third. Of course, they said that about Bubba Crosby in CF a couple years ago, but then went out and signed Damon, so who knows.

I still think Crosby could've been something.

Looks like they are targeting A-Rod to replace A-Rod according to NY Daily News and ESPN First Take.

Wow. Talk about a tremendous downgrade at one position.

I won't beleive he is out of New York, until he signs or they sign another3B. BorA$$ will always go back to the Yankees for one last shot. But I read a report where A-Rod has said he would like to go to Boston.

Boras isn't part of the negotiations. A-Rod is using a 3rd party

Can we all agree that it would be an absolute brilliant offseason if all the Yankees do this offseason is renew contracts for Posada, Rivera, Pettitte and ARod to the tune of about a 40m payroll bump?

Pettitte should ask for 25m if Rivera gets 15m. Pettitte was better than Roger Clemens last year, and he got that much.

I just read that, in the NY Times.

why in the hell would you want your favorite team to decrease payroll?

Because they pay for garbage. Just because you spend money doesn't mean you will win.

really? thanks for the econ lesson.

i would say "i wish my team would spend money wisely," not "i wish my team would spend less money."

if they spend less, but still spend it foolishly, you're a lot worse off than if they spend a lot foolishly.
