hasn't been brought up but would we get stomped like a narc at a bikers rally if we played Boston? or beaten like a drum? smashed like a pumpkin on holloween?

Statistically where do we even come close to matching up with them. I looked and didn't see too many places. The plaes I found were overcomed by the lack of that position being abe to clutch hit or hit with men in SP.

or are we avoiding this subject because if we go to far we would see that we too would have been swept just as bad?

It hasn't been brought up because it doesn't deserve to be brought up. The Cubs aren't even in the same league as the Boston Red Sox.

Anything can happen? Sure, aliens might land on the White House front lawn tonight, too.

I think it would be fun watching Hill and Marquis going up against the Boston offense in a World Series. They would get absolutely murdered.

The Cubs are in the National League, the Sox are in the American league. Very good.

The only way the Cubs could beat a team like Boston would be to get incredibly lucky with everyone hot at the same time. They absolutely kill us in walks, which means that the only way we could possibly compete is if we hit out of our minds. Thanks Jim Hendry.

We wouldn't have been any team that made the playoffs this year, let alone Boston. There are also several teams that didn't make the playoffs that the Cubs wouldn't have beaten.

Detroit

San Diego

Los Angelas

Toronto

Seatle

Atlanta

NY Mets

Minnesota

I would have a hard time saying the Cubs would beat any of these teams in a 7 game series.

I think the Cubs could have made a series of it, at least 5 or 6 games.

It seems to me that the Cubs can rise to the occasion, but take massive dumps versus teams that they are supposed to beat (see Florida, Arizona, etc.). I think it is a motivational issue.

There is no real rationale behind this, just my feeling.

I think any of these teams would have won the NL central. Who wins a 7 games series can be a crap shot.

Let's put it this way: the Cubs were swept by the team that was swept by the team that is on the verge of being swept by the Bosox.

That said, anything can happen in a seven-game series. The Cubs would be no worse than 3-2 dogs vs Boston if they'd won the NL pennant.
