Well, they didn't disappoint. The Cubs played to their reputations as losers. THey showed absolutely NO fire, No killer instinct. The window of opportunity just closed - look no further tha the 07 Bears - when given the opportunity in the post seasone, you MUST elevate your game to a higher level. The Cubs missed this point, as usual (Aramis - where are you?).

So, on to next year. Milwaukee gets stronger and should be the favorites to win the division. THey are young and unafraid. The Cubs get older w/ Lee, Ramirez, Howry etc... The new owner should take a look at the Dbacks, Rockies, Brewers (Marlins in 03) - and see that going youg is not a bad thing. I'm for trading Aram, Lee, you name it - for top tier prospects.

We'll see. We've got new owners coming in who will in all likelihood have just as deep if not deeper pockets than the Trib, there will be free agency, we don't know if the Cubs will spend or not.

A lot can happen. The Crew aren't going anywhere without a bullpen, and a bullpen can be a funny, unpredictable thing to try to put together. I also don't believe their closer will repeat last season. I think he's a one-season wonder.

New owners won't be here until free agency is all dried up.

Like I said, teams like the Dodgers may be willing to deal the younger players like Ethier, Loney, etc.. for ARam. DLee's power is gone - remember the Grace days? Big deal, he's now a singles hitter - which we do not need. Brewers are going to be tough for a long time coming - we are going to get old fast.

yeah, i'm not the only one who can't stand players who have OBP's that hover around the .380-.400 mark.

I want power @ 1b

as for the Brewers, they have their own issues. We have the money, they dont. yeah yeah yeah, the only way we win the division is if we buy it, but screw it, lets just be who we are and start throwing the money in the right places. not jim Hendry wise, but where its justifiable

You want power? I want production. D-Lee had plenty of that.

Really? Sure seems to me like they peed in the bed in September. Pretty much nothing short of a complete and total collapse.

ummm..to me "potetential power" adn "power" are two dif things.

Lee has the first, I want the real thing

I believe Lee's wrist was still the issue in July so that must mean it was still not 100 percent, give a nice off season to rehab. he'll be back. A Rams first big test in the spotlight was a failure so was A Rods.

Fonz is who disapoints me too much money for little product in the playoffs, great Sept though.

ARam had no problem with pressure in 2003. Everyone knows the playoffs is a crap shoot because of the small sample size. Have a 3 day slump like you probably had at least 10 times during the regular season and you are done. Bottom line is that the D-Backs were better, get over it and see how you can improve for next year. Soto at catcher, Pie in center, Jones / Murton platoon in LF and see who you can acquire to get more production at SS while letting Theriot become a super sub. We know they can win 85 games, some slight improvement gets them to 90 and probably puts them in the playoffs again next year.

To you and d_money:

DLee had 16 home runs in the second half which included him missing 5 games due to a suspension. That means he hit 16 home runs in 70 team games which is a pace of 37 home runs for a full season. His power is fine.

What part of NO TRADE CLAUSE don't you understand? Mr. Miles mentioned that in an article shortly after the playoff loss and also posted it here.

yes, this

his 2nd half line was 302/386/554/941, and there's very little wrong with that
