Well, Cubs fans. It's 8-4 Dbacks in the 8th inning of game two. I'm sure some of us have inflicted some serious damage against our property. So...what have you broken so far? What walls have you punched holes through? Today, when Aram hit into th twin killing my University Center mug met it's demise:

I don't understand the point of breaking things becauase the Cubs are sucking it up right now. Why break something of yours when it'll do no good...it's not like you break something and magically the cubs pull a win out.

I about got into it with a couple people tonight. I just hate when people that don't care about the game start asking me about it when they know its going bad. This stupid skank that was over at my house before the game says, "Hey, I heard the Cubs lost last night" Not even trying to be funny teasing, just legitimately thinking thats a good conversation starter. So I said, "Yeah, thanks" and then proceeded to ignore her. Few things irritate me more than these kinds of people.

THANK YOU. I hate crap like that.

I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way; because it's not meant to be condescending in any way shape or form. In fact, if anything, I see it as condescending towards men..however:

That is the total womans response. You act as if I actually sat there and thought "Well, gee, I think I'm going to pick up the cup setting next to me and slam it into the floor like i just scored the super-bowl-winning touchdown."

It was a reaction. Aram grounded into the double play, before I even had a chance to think i had the cup in my hand and it was shattered on the floor.

Maybe women (as a generalization..there are obviously multiple exceptions) are able to think more clearly in situations like this than are men (as a generalization..there are obviously many exceptions).

Or maybe just the fact that I've poured my heart and soul into this team for as long as i can remember induces some strong feelings.

Ugh, i hate that. I go out of my way to tell people not to talk to me during/around/after big games. Tonight my friend called me and asked me if I wanted to have breakfast with her in the morning and I told her fine but it's most likely not going to be safe to call me before, at minimum 10am tomorrow. I had an away message up for hours prior to the game that said "Cubs game about to come on. It's a good idea not to talk to me."

But yet people still try to contact me. Baaaaad idea.

I'm very proud of my roommate. Last night, without me saying a word to him all day about it; he got up right before the first pitch and said "hey, i'm going to hang out with my friend upstairs. i'll be back later." and he didnt come back until about half an hour after th game ended.

Tonight, exact same thing, right before first pitch he got up and left. He came back midway through the game but as soon as he walked in the room he was like "Just getting my guitar," and he grabbed his guitar and he was gone until the game ended.

Smart guy.

i actually had my best friend over tonight for moral support...since the cubs got smacked like little hostess creme pies tonight...all we did was laugh and make fun of everybody during the game...

i am sure glad he was around though because if i was watching this game by myself...things probably would have been destroyed...

My roommate is a redsox fan. He's been great about not gloating about how the sox whipped on the angels or even bringing them up. He just gained about 80000 cool points in my book.

i through a laundry hamper into the wall and made a big hole in 2003... after 2004 i just started expecting that the cubs would lose, and now i don't get upset any more.

I'm more or less the same way. I mean, I still hope, and I still hurt (a lot), but somehow, it's less intense, purely because my expectations are so low.

I imagine if this team were actually, legitimately very good, I'd be more upset than I already am. But they're pretty much just okay, so I wasn't expecting much.

What I wish for is not just a World Series (although that would be very, very nice). I want a great team that dominates for a few years, at least. I want 90+ win seasons (maybe even a 100-win season or two). I want to feel that if the Cubs win the World Series, it's not just luck. Although I'd take it if it was, obviously.

i feel bad for my girlfriend. when i'm obviously furious about the cubs she tries really hard to cheer me up, but i end up feeling worse because now i'm making her miserable by me being miserable. i know an easy solution would be to watch the games alone, but when things are going well i'm having a blast.
