hmm...i don't know. i remember saying we couldn't pull guys up from the minors or the waiver wire midweek just to get 7 starts, but i don't know if it's different for injuries.

 

if i do throw someone out there, it may be that laffey guy for cleveland who is on my minor league roster right now. thoughts on that?

Got 114.8 points today (haha, that's more than I had all week going into today) and I'm now up ~75 with 1 PSR remaining to abuck's 3. I was hoping for a better outing from CC but I really can't complain with Javy and Lackey.

 

Freaking Lackey had 7 shutout on 74 pitches, abuck's damn lucky he was on a pitch count or he could easily have had a CG SO.

wow, that was quite the furious push at the end. after getting like 1 point for my first four starts hill, laffey and especially ubaldo came up huge.

 

however, i really, really think we should either cut the last week out completely or combine it with the next to last week for a two week championship so the importance of the iffy last week is diluted a bit. we both missed a TON of innings from key players this week.

 

that being said, i'm pretty happy to take my third straight...now let's start talking trades!

I totally agree, the season shouldn't come down to the last week of the regular season when teams are setting their playoff rotations and resting their stars. It sucked knowing that Vlad would be playing if the Angels hadn't clinched or that Lackey (and Rich Hill for abuck) could have easily gotten a CG if the Angels weren't being careful.

Combining the last two weeks is what we always used to do (by counting the week of the All-Star break and starting the playoffs a week earlier) and it's done that way in the Yahoo leagues. You have the same issue in fantasy football leagues if the championship is decided in the last week of the regular season when NFL teams that have their playoff fate already decided frequently rest regulars (Manning with the Colts is a good example). I'm commissioner of a couple of Yahoo football leagues and set it up for the playoffs to end with the next-to-last week of the NFL season and not count the last week at all. That would be my preference here; end the season while most teams are still playing their regulars, then enjoy the MLB stretch drive without having to think about fantasy at the same time (especially if it's like this year when the Cubs were involved).

 

Of course, until I actually make the playoffs it's really a moot point with me. :x
