Ed Wade gets the job per Jayson Stark, ESPN

Ha! good.

Maybe he can talk Bagwell into coming back and sign him to a big deal.

Has a pitcher ever been a good GM or manager? Dierker was a good manager and for some reason never to be seen again but they seem to not have too much success in this particular field. I just think Ed Lynch and shutter.

There's a former pitcher named Tommy Lasorda who I don't think did too bad as a manager. Bob Lemon had some success as manager of both the Royals and Yankees. Currently Bud Black is doing well in his first season as Padres' manager. I can't think or any former pitchers who were successful GMs off the top of my head.

There certainly are a lot of pitchers to pick from and that isn't too deep of a list.

Roger Craig is another one I didn't think of before. Still not a very big list, especially considering that close to half of most major leaguers are pitchers.
