I knew he'd improved a bit since a dismal first half, but I was shocked when I checked the team ERA #s post-AS break...

Scott Eyre leads all pitchers on the Cubs staff with a 1.08 ERA. Granted, its a small sample size (16 2/3 IP), but props to Eyre for turning things around. I pretty much wrote him off for the year, but he may prove to have some value out of the pen in these last couple of weeks.

hopefully he won't pick up his player option.

although hendry would probably just re-sign him to another 3 year deal...

Whoa....Eyre has a player option? Does that complicate things when it involves moving him?

Of course, is it possible that he was injured and he's now over that injury? He was pretty effective last year wasn't he?

Not really. He only has a player option for next year, not guaranteed. We all just treat it like a guarantee because there was no logical scenario where he didn't use it. And that was prior to his troubles this year.

He'll pick up the option and we'll see what trade value he has at 1 year, $3.8 million dollars. Also do not forget he will be able to submit a list of 10 teams he can't be traded to without his permission.

He has a no trade too because he isn't a 10-5 guy.

Hendry will likely have to eat at least 2 mil to move Eyre. He might generate some interest as a LOOGY but nobody would want to spend $3.8M for a LOOGY, especially not an iffy bet like Eyre. Any GM who picks up more than $1M of his salary is just plain dumb.

he hasn't been on the Cubs for 5 years, so he's not a 10-5 guy

Isn't that what I said? I did write it kind of funny.

Sell him to the Dodgers, Ned will buy
Or let him be the next player to be traded to Baltimore. They seem to be the Cubs' current trading partners.
