I know this is a Bears thread but the Cards are up 3-2 on Ari. They have 3 hits, 1 by Brendan Ryan, 1 by B Barden(who the f is that), and 1 by Miguel Cairo. Ridiculous

Berrian never even looked for that ball.

What's really bad is that you could see he wasn't expecting to be thrown to. not even a decent decoy

It looked like when he went to make his cut, he looked back and thought the ball was already in the air, so he just mailed the rest of it in. I don't think he knew the ball was headed his way until it was already picked off.

People are going to give Rex hell for that, but look how many times he's been on the run so far in the first half. He's been running for his life every second time he drops back to pass.

Won't matter. Mariotti has already almost finished his "Rex Butterfingers" article for tomorrow.

Good thing just about everyone with half a brain knows Mariotti is a blowhard who doesnt know jackcrap.

Hehe, which adds up to about 20% of the population :P

oh, now fundamentalist christians are the only one's that AREN'T idiots.

I kid, I kid.

LOL, well I guess if you have half a brain then you're only an idiot half the time?

8-)

I thought you were taking NFL - I was totally confused how the Cards could be on top of Arizona because of that.

Hah. Nice. So will that put us from 1st to 3rd place in one day if it holds up?

some of the sacks are less about not blocking and more about SD taking advantage to TE's running routes rather than pass protecting. The guards can't block 2 or 3 guys at once

Some of it is blitzing but the OL isn't blocking even when the Chargers aren't blitzing. I want more blocking out of Benson and the TE but that eliminates the safety valve.

Damn. That was straight up 1-on-1 coverage on Berrian on that INT. If Berrian's looking for the pass I've got to like his chances...

DAMN!

No. Cards were 2 games behind us starting the day. We'll still be 1 game up even if they win today. 3rd place is coming though.

line and backs have to adjust to it. it's up to them to give the proper line call and execute the blocking. I'm looking at you Mr. Overrated German Hawaiian guy.

Yes, very disappointing. That better not come back to haunt the Bears.

well that's up to Grossman to audible. if he sees someone lining up on the edge but doesn't change a play where the TE and RB's are running routes...

The first one with Phillips I'd be suprised if it wasn't Benson's responsibility. He went way up and blocked someone who didn't need it -- he never saw Phillips.

No way they'd let Benson man-on against Phillips, especially early in the game.

Positives:

-Defense looked great all around. Front 4 getting decent pressure and stopping the run. LBs all over the field. Secondary is decent considering who they are playing against.

-Special teams, good coverage, decent punting, Hester has played it smart. Also a blocked FG which is the difference.

-Benson has played pretty good despite not breaking off any great runs

-Berrian has been all over the field in the first half.

Negatives:

-Offensive line. I know the front line of the Chargers is awesome, but it shouldn't be this evident. The only good run Benson had was created almost entirely by him.

-Grossman is looking like a mental midget. I really want to like him, but he just does stuff like randomly dropping the ball just kills me. The INT wasn't his fault really but the fumble definitely was.

-Berrian please don't give up on your routes

-Recievers other than Berrian....where are you?

The "review a post" warning when someone posts as you're posting. It's awful in game threads when everyone is posting at the same time.

Hopefully Tim can disable this feature. I'm digging the rest of the new phpbb format. Can't wait for NSBB to make the transition.

I don't know how the Bears work with their TEs, but whenever we had a TE out there in high school, if he saw a guy lined up in front of him or saw a guy blitzing it was his responsibility at the very LEAST to get a chip block on the defender before he goes out on route, or stay in to block completely. It's also the job of the outside tackle there to call out a shift to get the outside guy, with the guard getting the tackles responsibility and the center taking the guards. The QB also needs to be able to notice that and audible out, as someone already mentioned. Hopefully it's just a combo of SD having a great DL and it being the first game of the year.

i just remember a few plays where the RG clearly had to make a decision who to block and chose the inside guy
