Sandberg is a selfish slimeball. Stay out of Chicago, go manage the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Slimeball who cheated on poor Cindy. Cindy's an awesome lady.

Family comes first. Some people never learn.

Sometimes I worry I might be crazy. Then, out of nowhere, a random post will set me straight.

Hahaha, being the lurker I am, those posts cracked me up when I read them. I would love to have a drink with her and find out why exactly she hates Ryno so. This is the same person that hates Mr. Grace for dirtbag-ish reasons, right? She has had to have had some awesome firsthand run-ins with these guys.

Two things: I don't drink and I'm very fond of Mark Grace.

What are your feelings toward Dave Martinez?

I don't dislike him. He didn't do anything wrong. Mr. Sandberg is the male whore. I hope there are whore houses in Peoria to accommodate his needs. Cindy said he slept around. I assure you - Margaret won't be with him too much longer. SHE'LL WISE UP.

Okay, let me go back to my cook-out.

According to this article from the Sporting News, Sandberg has "impressed" his bosses.

"In all my years, he's the first manager who has wanted his reports to be critiqued," says Tim Wilken, the Cubs' director of scouting. "Most guys will write them, turn them in, and that's it. He'll say, 'Tim, will you go over them with me? What do you think?' I don't know if there's a career in this for him, but he has tried to make it work." Another popular former Cub, Jody Davis, is managing a step ahead of Sandberg in high Class A (Daytona). Where Sandberg and Davis work next year will provide a clue as to how the Cubs perceive their future in the who-follows-Lou sweepstakes. . .

Part of the problem in evaluating someone like Sandberg is that the higher ups in the organizations are likely giving him specific orders about things like who pitches on a given day, pitch counts, what they want certain players to work on, and so on. While the Cubs might give him some leeway with certain decisions, I can't imagine they give him free rein on how to use a player.

That said, he seems to have no trouble letting his guys attempt stolen bases and lay down squeeze plays, from the games I've watched.

Outshined, this is very well said. There have been several moments in the season where I thought that Ryno did something that didn't make sense *to me* but I also am not aware of what the organization is asking him to do on a daily basis. For instance, he sent Russ Canzler home in the game last night, and he was dead to rights at home plate. Could it be that he was overly agressive and tried to send him home or was this something the org wants our guys to be working? He tried to do the same with Marquez Smith earlier this week, and somehow Marquez missed the windmill motions of his manager (he would have been a dead duck at the plate too, btw) Overall, a very difficult question to answer. He definitely has the backing of the team - but would guess he's very much a "players" manager.

That said, I would say that Jody seemed a bit more naturally comfortable in the role last year. He was willing to take a lot of chances just to try things (especially early in the season), where as I would say that Ryne is a bit more conservative. Then again, that could be said in general of their personalities, so guess that's likely not a big shock.

By the way, Margaret (Ryne's current wife) is a very nice lady. She sits in our section and has been to nearly every home game this season. Various sets of kids have also visited Peoria this year, and all seemed great too. In fact, she was just mentioning to Mr Mac last night that they are RVing home to AZ after the season is over, so watch out world!

Just my 2 cents. Nate could probably shed some additonal light here as well, as he's spent more time with this team than anyone else.

Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! (oh, and LET'S GO CHIEFS!!!)

Thank You...Thats what I was looking for. I appreciate your answering this.
