No love for the AFL's Sean Gallagher, who continued pitching excellently while making his first AFL start this week? After his Southern League and PCL performances during the regular season, Gallagher is starting to run out of minor leagues for BA to ignore him in.

 

A: Chris Kline: See? I mention the future top 20--just once--and everybody goes all wacky on me. And when have we ignored Gallagher? We had a huge feature on him last year and he ranked No. 5 in the Cubs' system heading into 2007. Aside from exceptional stuff, Gallagher doesn't back down from anybody. As far as the top arms in the AFL go, there is no doubt Gallagher fits into that mix. Does he fit into the top three guys? I'm not sure. And I don't see much difference between him and Arrieta in terms of ceiling as a back-of-the-rotation starter. But Adam Miller? Nope. Scherzer? Probably not.

I don't know where all this power is coming from Fuld, but he's always been one of those guys who hits for a pretty decent average and knows how to take a walk or two. I could see him maybe making the team as a 25th man who can play all the outfield positions, but I don't see him competing for a starting CF job.

I did hear that Roquet has acquired a hernia and has been sent home to have an operation for his hernia. Also I did hear that Renshaw was tossed into the deal with Baltimore as the extra guy, it was all pending that if the Cubs made into the playoffs, there would be another player involved and it sounds like Renshaw was the player.

I had posted the info on Renshaw in transactions, but thanks for the confirmation, splinter. I hadn't seen anything at BA, but more from a friend of a friend. It honks me off even more that he was the PTBNL for a bad trade, but wish him nothing but the best with the O's.

Fuld is a great player to backfill your roster with. Young, cheap and you can contol him for 6 years without tying yourself down to a long term contract. If he sucks you just cut bait and move on. I also think there is something to be said about bench players that can control the strike zone and still get on base when they arent hitting well. Nothing more do i hate when a guy doesnt get consistent playing time to see him hacking away and chasing bad balls.
