Doesn't appear to be anything serious, probably just the first signs of arthritis starting to effect his 38 year old body.

The victory was the Cardinals' third straight and 10th in their last 13 games. They moved to one game under .500 at 61-62, a "lofty" perch they had not reached since they were 10-11 on April 26.

But will they have Pujols at anything close to full strength the rest of the way? Pujols said he hurt his upper right leg a couple of pitches before he hit his home run and his leg had gone numb.

"We're going to have to deal with it," Pujols said. "I want to keep playing, but I won't be sure how it is until I wake up. It's sore. That's all I can say."

La Russa, who said he was close to pulling Pujols from the game until the latter assured him he would be careful, said, "That will be a major concern tonight."

doesn't sound good...

is it playable? yes... with a high level of pain tolerance...

it's his upper leg... a knot in the back of the leg, for lack of a better term...

not certain if it's hamstring...

but he told the scribes that this is as bad as it's been for a long time...

cardinals more concerned about him than they have been...

just a warning; not trying to freak anyone out....

Honestly, I wouldn't listen to anything Bernie says. That dude stirs the pot more than anyone.

And yes, I'm sure he's hurt. Is he ever not hurt? They're saying he possibly needs Tommy John for his elbow. He battled Plantar Fasciitis for years. Arguably the thing that impresses me most about Pujols is how tolerant he is to the pain because of his love and commitment for the game.

Team doctors examined Pujols after the game, and the Cardinals' star said he was told there was no ligament damage. La Russa wanted to take him out, but Pujols convinced him he'd be smart, and Pujols finished the game.

"It was painful, I won't lie to you, and it was sore," Pujols said. "They wanted me to come out of the game but I wanted to go out there.

"If it got worse, obviously I'm going to come out, because this is not the time to get myself on the DL."

It's okay Albert. We wouldn't mind if you went on the DL.

Anyone who actually thinks he's 27 is nuts. One of my neighbors is a scout 4 the Angels and he says pujols is at least 33.

My next door neighbor is good friends with someone who won a public Yahoo Fantasy Baseball league and he thinks he's only 25.

Why does it matter if your neighbor is a scout? How can he tell age better than anyone else?

huh strange that a "27 year old guy" would be having problems like this

the truth is hes older and abusing performance enhancing substances most likely, so its not really suprising

Wow. That's a post full of truths right there.

Just because he has nagging injuries doesn't mean he has used in enhancements in his past and to post stuff like that is outrageous and down right careless. Would you like to have some health problems and have people make stupid accusations about you. I'm not a Cardinal fan at all I hate them and the only way I would ever cheer for Albert is if he was playing for the Cubs or batting against the Yankee's.

Interesting. Third person on the site I've heard say their neighbor/friend/whatever is a scout for the angels. Why is it always the Angels?

Pujols has been playing through immense amounts of pain throughout his career. The guy is a beast. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well said. Is it still okay to hate him?
