If you have a chance to watch the Minn game, Johann's got a no hitter through 4IP with nine k's.

could be history....

way to go, jinxy

I'm thinking as much about the 20k record as the no-hitter. To me, those are accidents of where balls fall as much as anything done right by the pitcher. 21 K's would be a feat, though.

5IP / 11K

As impressive as that is...it's a bit off pace. He needs two innings with 3K's to reach 21

good point. and 2 Ks in the fifth only makes the point stronger: 11 through 5 now.

He's on pace for just fewer than 20... wow. He's doing amazing, but it's still not on pace for the record. What a record . . .

Aww he fails, no K's in the 6th.

Still possible....just pretty far fetched. He'd pretty much have to strike everyone else out -- and get 4K in one inning with a dropped third strike.

LOL Tim.

And why does Sosa have the only two hits in the game? And why have the Twins only scored 1 run? This looks like that day Prior struck out 16 batters and the Cubs still lost.

17 k's - 8ip

If you were the catcher and Johann strikes out the first three guys next inning...do you drop that last strike to give him a shot at 21? :D

Aww...great outing by Santana, though. Best pitcher in baseball. And it's not really close.

WHY did they take him out?

111 pitches, 1 run lead, one of the best closers in the game on hand.

And he has like zero chance of winning the Cy Young this year.

There is aboslutely no justice in baseball.

112 pitches really isn't that much for a pitcher like that. Well I take it back, it IS a lot but I'd let him keep going after 6 straight Ks.
