Len: "Pitchers dominating early on today."

NO Len, the ump's floating Kzone is dominating early on today. This ump is more worthless/clueless than the ones we had for most the previous Reds' series.

How the hell is Braden Freaking Looper making us look this bad??!?!?

our offense sucks, and rich hill is pitching, which means our offense will suck even more than usual

Braden Looper is a stud.

Oh wait his ERA is almost 6? Crap

Well, that's a little of an exaggeration don't you think. His ERA is 5.01, if you count that as almost 6 :D

This is the one Cardinals pitcher who the Cubs cannot seem to figure out, and I'm not sure why. It's not that he's just a bad pitcher, or the Cubs offense, because they hit the other pitchers just fine for the most part.

I take it you missed Kip Wells owning us.

TOP 3rd

Molina flies out to Ward in RF.

1st -

2nd -

3rd -

OUTS: 1

SCORE: CUBS 0 || CARDINALS 0

Rich Hill is actually looking good out there.

I think its stupid (just because it came from LaRussa), but considering what Kendall is doing currently and in his career vs Looper, I wish Lou had made out the lineup so that Hill was hitting 8th and Kendall 9th.

So, even if there are 2 outs, if Kendall reaches, it flips the lineup back over and gives the top of the order chance(s) to drive him in, instead of the pitcher coming up next and making a weak out - to possibly end a great scoring chance and/or change the game's complexion.

LaRussa is a joke. Looper hitting 8th.

A team on average will score more runs with the pitcher batting 8th. The impact is just about 2-3 runs a year.

How would you prove that? Anyone ever done it?

I don't know if I believe that.

If that is true why is LaRussa the only one smart enough to figure that out and implement it.

I try not to think about that :D

Seriously though, Wells allowed 11 baserunners against us in 6 2/3 (8 hits and 3 walks). He got really lucky that he only allowed the number of runs he did.

Here's a case where Ryan hitting 9th hurt them. Wouldn't you rather he single with one out, so the pitcher can bunt him over? He'd be on 2nd with 2 outs and the leadoff man coming up. Instead he's on first.
