I was with everyone last night saying this team is terrible (which isn't far from the truth). But people, look at the bright side.

1) Homeruns: We hit 3, all solo shots... but a homerun is a homerun. Maybe this will light a spark under the rest of the team.

2) Resiliency: They showed shades of the Cubs last month not laying over and dying even after being down 4. We need the fighting/winning spirit back like nobody's business and last night was a good example of that.

3) Bullpen: Bullpen kept it close for us, Marmol escaped a very nasty jam. We need our relievers to keep it close.

We are still only 1 1/2 games out, THIS is the time to get hot... before the Cardinals series and before the Brewers series. Don't lose faith until the elimination number reaches 0.

it was exciting, but Fontenot/Murton's warning track power coupled with Zambrano deciding to suck again took most of the fun out of it

This team is not terrible. This team also is not very good. As with most things in life, they are somewhere between these extremes.

this team is exactly what their record shows, a barely .500 team. and that might be enough to get into the playoffs.

Probably correct. Time will tell.

I think we're capable of better we just don't bring A game every time.

That's baseball. Everybody is capable of more than their 162 game record indicates, in short bursts. But your 162 game record is what you are.

How about some positives for tonight's @#$%ing loss.

Vitters actually signed?

Fox looked pretty good. He took some borderline pitches to draw that walk. Maybe uncle Lou will start him again today.

Other positives? After Howry gave up the HR I knew the game was over and went to bed so I got an extra half hour of sleep. Though I have to admit that I expected the Reds to score 3 more runs in the 9th.
