Something is not quite right there...........

Team record by starting center fielder

CUBS are 25-18 when Jones starts at cf
CUBS are 5-7 when Soriano starts at cf
CUBS are 20-12 when Pie starts at cf
CUBS are 10-18 when Pagan starts at cf

Right Fred, but he's asking what the Cubs record is when Pie is on the roster, not in the lineup.

If the CUBS have lost 12 games with Pie in the lineup.... can their record possibly be 37-7 with him on the roster ???

All the more reason to just let him go after the season is over (Or whenever he comes off the DL)

I am pretty sure I heard someone on comcast say the other day when he was recalled that their record ths season when he appears in a game was 32-16, and now with these last 2 wins that would be 34-16. I know it is quirky, but it is a very interesting stat

For all the reasons to let Pagan go, that's not one of them. Most of Pagan's starts are against left-handers, and the Cubs have simply been bad offensively against left-handers.

34-17. He pinch-hit on Wednesday and the Cubs lost.

Sounds like a good reason to let him go and get someone who is better against left handers.

he's clearly a better cf than barrett is a catcher.

I agree with the lack of correlation, but shouldn't Barrett's 30 OPS+ as a Padre make you stop grinding this ax at some point?

A) its 42 (you might have been a column off, he has 30 TBs)

B) its 104 ABs of split time

C) the man is coming off of 3 100+ OPS+ seasons (inwhich he increased every year)

D) Bowen had a -29 OPS+ for us (again in a very small sample size)

E) To your point though, you have to be naive if you think the trade was completely a baseball performance decision.

"record with Felix on the roster" is one of the biggest stretches of statistics i've seen here in some time

Considering the way Pie has been playing for us, I agree.

Pie in the game means better all around OF defense. Any ball Pie gets to that Jones or Pagan couldn't means turning an XBH into an out.
