why are we using our good relievers in a 10-2 game? This seems like the perfect time to get guys like Scott Eyre and Sean Gallagher some work.

 

Gallagher threw 23 pitches last night and Eyre threw 15. Marmol hasn't pitched since Monday, so they probably wanted him to get some work in.

 

Plus, a 10-2 game in Coors is like a 5-1 game anywhere else, and the Cubs are really desperate to break this streak.

 

Ahh I was unaware that Marmol has not pitched since Monday. I turned the games off well before it got to the relievers spot late in the game. It just seemed like Marmol was in almost every game and a 10-2 game would have been a good one to give him off. But since that is not the case I withdraw my objection to using him.

Cubs really needed that one. A nice, low-stress win with two big bats out and a third 0-5, where the rest of the team just goes nuts. I'm pretty sure this game was more on their starter than on our hitters, but that one felt nice.

Cubs are 1-14 vs Ubaldo, and that one hit coming from a guy who probly won't be playing tomorrow. And the Rocks' players who have faced Lilly are a combined .344 vs him.

New thread please. Did the back end of the game thread starters rotation just bail on the season? Jim Sorgi goes MIA last night, now Tyson gone tonight. We're in the dog days of the season, but the back end of the rotation still needs to do its job.
