Step right up and be the lucky winnah who predicts when our lovable, flubbable Cubs slip back below that magic line that seperates the baseball men from the tee-ball mongoloids!

I call lucky August 13th!

Do you have any money? I'll be happy to bet you IF you have some money to back up your bet.

My guess, no you don't.

It's a gentleman's bet. The winner gets a hearty handshake and a tip of the cap!

sooner thsan later. One thing I can tell you though, if the Cubs and Brewers keep playing the way they are, their big show down at the end of the month will be a battle for 3rd place.

With you-know-who lurking in third place right now. If the Cards make a run at the division again (due to crappy play by the Cubs and Brewers, moreso than the Cards ability to win), I'll puke.

Wow, lighten up. I was just using some silly huckster hyperbole to dress up a thread asking people when they think the Cubs will be below .500 again (if they do).

I'll bet you that you lack any sense of humor at all.

April 2nd, 2008. They won't dip below .500 this season. Someone has to be a damn optomist around here.
Only problem is, most people on this board were able to catch an inning or two of baseball this weekend, or at least a box score. No optimism to be found after that.

Oh yea, and my bet is Friday. A change in rule in the way statistics are recorded will allow offenses to be credited with losses simultaneously with pitchers.

My hope is that a team wins this division with under 80 wins
In all seriousness, based on the way things are going now, I believe there's a 40-50% chance that it will actually happen.

This thread pisses me off.

Hey, it's either riding the rollercoaster into hell head and chin up on or it'll end up being an awesome reverse jinx. Either way, it's gonna be a nutty trip...

No thanks. Contrary to popular belief, I'd rather not root against them.

I'm not up for looking for the thread, but a week or two ago some pseudo-journalist type commented on the Cubs being not as good as advertised because of their schedule. Soul and myself were just about the only ones who agreed with him. We were bombarded with pythagorean records and what not. Yet, the offensive statistics of this team show how truly mediocre they are. The sky isn't falling, but I'll be damned if there are some cumulus clouds at about 4500 feet.
