How can you not laugh at all these roster moves.

It's the Cubs. We're used to the stupidity at this point.

Nevermind. I forgot he was recently sent down. So many moves lately, they're hard to keep track of.

it'd be hard for me to believe that epatt would be going down after his hit last night. .

Not sure why a weak bloop single would prevent him from being sent down. It's hard for me to believe a team would be stupid enough to add a guy to the 40 man and then send him down 2 days later, when all they had to do was call up Pie in the first place. But it's the Cubs, so it could happen.

I have to assume Patterson is up for at least the next week or so.

i guess i just figured that going 1/3 or whatever would at least give him a stay of execution longer than 24 hrs. but with this bunch who the hell knows?

I think that Pagan may be the one on his way out?

Nobody else thinks that's the case?

No, I really didn't think he'd be the one. May be though. I'd think they would want a guy capable of swinging from the right side and play CF, but who knows. Maybe Lou is sick of him.

it has to be cedeno, doesn't it? he's not really shown any reason to be up here, has he?

17 abs at this level over a period of several weeks isn't really giving him a chance to show much is it?

Ronny's going down, IMO.

Agree. If anything, Fontenot takes over to 2B when DeRosa moves to the outfield due to Jones piss poor bat. Also, I think Lou will try Pagan against LHP to try to ease Pie back in as a regular.

Either him or Patterson.

i agree that it hasn't been a fair shot, but it might be all he gets.

Lastly, Theriot looks like the more consistent out there out of all players that have been shuffled around, so he's not going to sit for Cedeno.

The issue of course is that leaves them with no backup shortstop. Teams rarely go without a backup shortstop.

Jacque has been better than DeRosa lately. DeRosa has been pretty bad here for more than a month. He could use some rest.

No, it's not.

I'd pick Pagan (don't need 6 OFs) or Fontenot (don't need 4 second-basemen), but that's just me. It's rather sad that there are so many viable candidates for demotion/DFA.

You're correct. Edited a bit too slow.

As bad as the offense has been, is there any reason we can't just go (not in this lineup order):

Murton LF

Pie CF

DeRosa/Jones RF

Lee 1B

Theriot 2B

Cedeno SS

ARam 3B

Soto C

That group can't really be any worse than what we're getting right now, can it?

DeRo will play short too. And catcher. Maybe he can spell Marquis a few times. 8-)

I'd rather leave Theriot in the leadoff spot. He seems to be doing a good job with it.

I doubt he's going down. Given our struggles against LHP, I can't imagine sending down the only guy on the roster that can (a) handle CF; and (b) hasn't been putrid against LHP.

That's fine with me. I'd be okay with Theriot at SS and EPatt at 2B too. I'm not sure there's much difference between those options.

I'm hopeful that it's Pagan. I'm sure Lou has grown tired of his horrible fundamentals in the past week or so where he doesn't know how many outs there are, drops the ball when he would have had Milledge out by a mile, etc. Either that or Floyd to the 15-day DL just to rest his old body.
