TT, I e-mailed the Boise announcer about Alberto Cabrera and he said that Cabrera has a sore or tired shoulder and they haven't even placed him on the DL (so it doesn't sound too serious and hopefully he'll be back soon). Edited by CaliforniaRaisin

Maybe when they said start for Mesa, they just meant his first day with the team. he reported yesterday he's with the team today?

That's what I was thinking, Brian:

Acosta, whose father was killed in a traffic accident, was to report to the Mesa Rookie League team on Sunday and start Monday.

I shot an e-mail to Iowa announcer Deene Ehlis about Josh Kroger and he said it's not a serious oblique injury and the earliest he could come back would be Friday.

Why not call him up to the big team? You lose a corner OF with power, replace him with a corner OF with power. 20HR, .593 SLG, 1.017 OPS

I wouldn't mind calling Kroeger up as soon as he gets playing back in Iowa again and proves that he is healthy.

Samardzija gives up a single in the 1st, but was able to strike out 1 and get two ground outs.

Technically it was just one ground out - a DP.

Gave up 2 singles and a sac fly in the second. 2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K/0 BB, 2 GO-3 FO.

3 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 K/0 BB, 4 GO-4 FO.

Samardzija has mostly been throwing FBs today but he retired Reid Brignac on a groundout on a "great changeup."

weird that shark decided to bust out his one strikeout for the night so early, usually he saves it for a tough spot in the middle innings.

First batter of the game!

And the last batter of his game (in a tough spot - 2 on, 2 out).

Jeff's final line: 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 2 K/2 BB, 7 GO-9 FO.

That's a really encouraging start. Hopefully he can put together a few good starts before the end of the year.

I fail to see what is encouraging about those numbers.
