ESPN.com just had a big goof

The headline already said that Glavine KO'd the Cubs for win #300. I did a double take and re-read to make sure I wasn't seeing things. The link to the story wasn't working and when I refreshed it, the headline had been corrected.

On the ESPN telecast they said Carlos Lee was leading off the next inning for the Cubs. Web site or television station, this isn't their most shining night.

Yeah, they've made a LOT of mistakes today calling players by the wrong names, or wrong teams. It was really starting to get annoying after the first few.

 

EDIT: They also said the Cubs still had Izturis earlier. They corrected themselves an inning later, it was still annoying.

I also loved how they didn't realize the huge standing ovation was for the return of one of the most popular Cubs players after 14 months of not pitching in the majors. They corrected themselves, but still...Also, they didn't go to commercial break Sat night after Bonds hit 755 to show the crowd's reaction as he took his position in LF. Why couldn't they skip commercials or at least go to commercial later so we could see the ovation for Wood?

glad i wasn't the only one who noticed how bad miller was last night. there's no sense in commenting on what an idiot joe morgan is, but miller is typically pretty solid. last night he made more mistakes than i could count. i remember him talking about the cardinals and calling them the cubs; talking about the mets and calling them the cubs and, of course, referring to derrek lee as carlos lee.
