I've got a bad feeling no one's going to watch my link because they're worried it's whatever AS is posting.

Will Carroll:

Felix Pie was pulled in the fourth inning of the Iowa Cubs game in Colorado Springs, along with outfield/first base-type Josh Kroeger. All I know thus far is that neither player left due to injury.

He wrote this at 1:15 am, well after the Iowa game was over.

I guess he missed the Iowa manager's press conference.

I take it we should probably just assume Will is mistaken here...? :)

That might be my bad. I sent him an email around 11 pm central telling him what was going on, and that there had been no indications of an injury to that point.

I just can't see Jim trading Pie unless it's a blockbuster. He value's him too highly.

Well, I was half-joking. If we take Carroll's word as truth, the thread explodes another 10 pages, whether he actually knows more than we do or not.

It's a pretty bold contradiction to what the Iowa manager said, so it's probably not true... until Will updates and mentions Bailey's comment, and still claims injuries weren't behind it. Or another source picks it up.

Again, I know I'm at least part of the source saying they weren't injured. I'm not sure if he looked further into it after that or not, but given his prior work on the rumor mill, I wouldn't be surprised at all if my comment alone is what he was working off of.

Kinda what I'm thinking. I'll still check back at this thread later, though, since I like torturing myself like that :)

We now know that there really are callups, but totally unrelated to Pie and Kroeger being removed from the game (as mentioned in another thread, Murton and Cherry are being called up).

Strangely anticlimactic, like that :)

what a hit to the Iowa OF -- Pie, Kroeger and Murton all bailed on the team

You know who'd look great in I-Cubs uniforms? Dunn and Griffey. Make it happen Jim.

Pish posh. I clearly outlined that it was only something to keep an eye on or to kick the tires around on... nothing to go to print with.

I think Truffle was just being tongue-in-cheek. But whatever the case, myself (and surely others) appreciate your report of the situation. Any possibility is worthy of discussion at least, even if the discussion results in the discrediting of that very possibility. :)
