Just saw this trade now, I like it. I went to training camp today, and I am really excited about the season. I agree with the previous statements that the Bears are gonna be better than last year. They may lose a few more games due to the schedule, but I think this team is gonna be stronger than last years.

GO BEARS!

Anything to report on TC?

Yeah, sorry this is late. Rashied Davis looked really good. Made some diving catches, didnt drop anything, ran some good routes. Also, the wr Ball? (he was number 19, the NCAA td record holder) actually looked really good. Made some really good catches.

Benson I thought looked pretty good as well. Quick to the hole, ran north and south and did not juke and dance all that much.

Finally, there was a little scuffle between two players at the end. It was reported in the Tribune, but it was funny because Hillemeyer ran to the scuffle and jokingly jumped in the air and dropped a fake elbow onto the pile. Pretty funny stuff.

LOL.. they asked Urlacher about the big talk coming out of Detroit again this year, and he brought up how they "almost scored 40" against us last year.

Almost forgot about that.

I think Detroit will be better. But they have done little to show me that they can do the 2 most important things a winning football team has to do. 1. protect the QB. 2. stop your opponent from scoring at will.

The Lions' players think they will win 10 this year.

Yes they do. They did add a great talent @ WR. But I'm not sure they improved at really much else, and those other pieces were terrible last year.

Can one WR save you from being an otherwise bad team? I'll have to see it before I'll believe it.

For the 8th year in a row.....

forgot to add that when the players were walking back to the locker room after practice, grossman was getting yelled at the loudest for autographs. it was nuts, everyone wanted his autograph. i was standing on the bleachers about 15 feet from where the crowds were lined up, and everywhere grossman went it was mass chaos.

alex brown was very playful with the fans as well. he asked some kid what jersey he was wearing, and the kid turned and showed him his jersey, and brown said robbie gould? aw no man. i think he signed for the kid anyways.

others who i saw that signed include tillman, chris harris, mike brown, and a few others who werent in the area i was.

How could you forget that one? It was great! A buddy and I have been joking around about every Lions article written this year.

"It's crazy how close to scoring 40 that game."

"It's crazy how close they'll come to winning 10 games this year."

"It's crazy how close they'll come to beating the Bears this year."

"It's crazy how close they'll come to not being in last place this year."

The jokes never end! :D

A great read from the guy who said he'd eat his laptop if the Bears won the NFC North in 2005.

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The smile was wicked, maybe even a little devious, not so much the smirk of a Cheshire cat. Instead, when Lovie Smith smiled, it was the expression of a physicist who just snuck out of a laboratory with the formula for nuclear fission tucked into his sock.

"We're changing the whole look of this thing, huh?" the Chicago Bears coach said, nodding toward the practice field.

It wasn't so much a question as a statement of fact. Consistently touted for defense and consistently trashed on offense, Smith thinks he has a hidden secret. While the rest of the NFL world talks offense and blathers on about the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers, the Bears largely are forgotten. But if Smith's vision comes to fruition, Chicago will boast the league's most potent scoring unit next season.

"We caught a lot of crap over the offense," Smith said. "A lot, and we were the second-best scoring team (tied with the Colts) in the NFL last year. People keep talking about what we need to do on that side of the ball, but all we really need to do is build a little on what we did last season."

Bradley has looked very good to me. He seems to be moving very well, and I didn't see him do anything but catch what was thrown his way.

And here are some more pics. Now I'm going to bed 8-)

I think the thing that would surprise me most about being at training camp is how tall some of these guys are. Tillman looks like a giant!

BOURBONNAIS -- He was the forgotten man in 2006, but Kyle Orton has been anything but forgotten this off-season and training camp.

Now, beyond his dramatically improved passing and new level of strength and conditioning loom two franchise-level questions:

Can Orton emerge from the preseason as the No. 2 quarterback ahead of Brian Griese?

And in the event that Rex Grossman does not work out, can Orton possibly play his way into becoming the franchise quarterback of the Bears' future?

The answer to both is ... yes.

It goes on to say that thus far many think that Orton is outperforming Griese so far in camp. Wow. That could be a nice little bonus!

By most accounts, Griese has been looking pretty bad. I'm pretty sure he's been singled out as one of the weakest performers in just about each report from camp each day so far.

That being the case, it's nice to see Orton taking advantage of it. If Griese is going to wind up being relegated to #3, I'm not sure I even see a reason for him to be on this team.

I agree. Chris Leak is in camp right? Has anyone heard anything about how he looks?

chris leak joins craig krenzel in the "how did he win a national championship? his team must have had an unstoppable defense" category.

for a guy that came out of the womb trhrowing a football, he's just not good at it.

I love that Darwin Walker trade. The defense is stacked and deep It was nice to hear that Tillman and Vasher got extensions. I'm still very worried about the OL.

The Bears could lose a fourth-round draft pick in the deal depending on Walker's playing time, but it will be well worth the investment if Walker fills their immediate needs.

It's still a nice trade though.

Judging by the zip and accuracy of his passes so far, nobody reported to camp more serious about improving than Rex Grossman. Some of his throws make ones thrown by Brian Griese or Kyle Orton look and sound like Triple-A fastballs in comparison.

Tillman's a tall CB, but in fairness, in that picture he is standing next to the Bears designated horn-blower, who goes about 5'2"

most of the better o-lines are very old, as well. we have some depth there, the only real concern that i have is fred miller.
